Directions:
A. From the different principles on Science Education based on the ppt (last 2 slides)
used during the previous discussion create your own principle that will guide you to
design a science program with you as the leader (identify your leadership style ) for
your school

Teach students what a scientific question is and provide opportunities for students to
convert their questions into scientific questions that can be answered based on
preliminary research or observations. Answering scientific questions is part of scientific
thinking. As science teachers, we teach students that answering a scientific question
entails developing explanations that cite evidence, sharing ideas about what the evidence
means, and critiquing the evidence to determine whether the conclusions are valid or
whether additional evidence is required. For example, if you ask someone to answer the
question "Is there global warming?" they will likely say yes. A nonscientific answer is
based on what that person believes based on what they have read or heard from others.
Scientific thinking, on the other hand, necessitates examining the evidence, discussing
and critiquing the evidence, and developing an answer to the question based on existing
science knowledge as well as all current evidence from scientifically designed studies. One
way to start implementing this recommendation is to generate or find examples of
science questions that could be asked.

In helping me realize the principle in science education, I would rather be a type of
leader that is transformational by practice. The one that considers the characteristics that
already define me and those that need to be developed. I shall seek out positive role
models and mentors, and I should have the eagerness to learn and grow. Someone who
solicits feedback on my leadership from my peers, staff, and supervisors, and accepts
criticism well. I am a type of leader who is not afraid to show vulnerability and do not
pretend to be perfect. I should learn from my mistakes and balance my self-assurance
with humility. Great leaders work hard to take care of themselves by managing their own
stress and that of others, and that should define my self to bring change and
development to the type of science program I envisioned in my school.
