3.3.1 Read and enjoy simple print and digital games

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
M At the end of the lesson, some pupils will be able to write at least 1 short instruction correctly.
C At the end of the lesson, most pupils will be able to read and mime at least 2 instructions correctly.
1. Give pupils one instruction after another for them to carry out.
I. PRE-LESSON
e.g. Stand up. Touch your nose. Jump. Turn around. Sit down.
1. Activity 1:
➢ Display a song chart on the board.
➢ Play the recording. Pupils listen and sing along.
➢ Check understanding of new vocabulary.
➢ Play the recording again. Pause after each line for pupils to repeat with actions.
➢ Then, guide the pupils to sing with actions.
2. Activity 2:
➢ Organise pupils into groups and distribute worksheets.
II. LESSON DEVELOPMENT
➢ Pupils look at the pictures and complete the instructions with suitable words.
➢ Check with the class.
3. Activity 3:
➢ Demonstrate the card action game.
➢ Pupils work in groups.
➢ Pupils write instructions on cards.
➢ Pupils exchange instruction cards.
➢ Pupils take turns to read it and mime.
➢ The other pupils in the group need to guess what the card says.
1. Play "Simon Says".
III. POST LESSON 2. E.g. "Simon says, run!" The class must follow only the instruction preceded by “Simon says...”
3. Pupils who obey instructions without “Simon says” are out.
