LEARNING OBJECTIVES

M At the end of the lesson, some pupils will be able to create a simple chant with support.

C At the end of the lesson, most pupils will be able to give a short sequence of basic instructions.

1. Give a sequence of instructions to pupils. e.g. Stand up. Touch your nose. Touch your head.
I. PRE-LESSON Turn around. Say hello. Sit down.
2. Pupils listen and do the actions.
1. Activity 1:
Display the chant chart on the board. Read the chant. Pupils listen and follow. Read the
chant for the second time. Pause after each line for the pupils to repeat in chorus. Ask
the pupils to help you choose the actions. Practise the lines individually with actions.
Practise the chant as a class.
2. Activity 2:
II. LESSON DEVELOPMENT
Organise pupils into 5 groups. Assign each line to one group. Pupils read the chant and
do the actions according to the line assigned.
3. Activity 3:
Display a chant template on the board. Tell pupils to compose their own chant using the
template given. Demonstrate the activity for the class. Pupils work in groups. Pupils
complete the chant with suitable words. Help with vocabulary as appropriate. Ask pupils
to think of suitable actions for their chant. Pupils write their chants on manila cards.
1. Groups take turns to read their chant.
III. POST LESSON 2. The rest of the class listen and do the actions.
3. Display pupils’ work and conduct gallery walk.
