Esther Adhiambo is a second year student studying Diploma in Communication and Media studies at Kenyatta University. She provides a mid-semester report highlighting her studies, experiences, and plans. The semester began well with classes starting as scheduled. Lecturers have been helpful. While tuition fees were difficult to raise, support from Canada Mathare Educational Trust and an aunt's payment of hostel fees for two months helped. Going forward, Esther plans to raise tuition fees on time and take additional language units like Japanese. She expresses gratitude for the continued support from CMETrust.

Course of study: Diploma in Communication and Media studies Year of study: 2nd year Date: 8 October, 2022 Ongoing semester: 2.1 Semester left to finish study: 6 Introduction Hello, hope you are all doing well. I hereby take this time to write to you my mid of semester report to highlight to you the moments it had. Summary of studies during the semester The semester begun well as it had been planned, the classes begun immediately the timetable was out. Our lecturers have been very cooperative and willing to assist us. There was introduction of additional units which we were supposed to learn earlier but it was not possible to do the online as the required more of face to face interaction. Since the Corona outbreak we used to come to school in shift, that is first and second years could be in session then after exams, it was the turn for third and fourth years, but right now we are all in session since there is no Corona. Things that went well I am humbled to be part of the PSS team. I take this chance to thank the Canada Mathare Educational Trust for the continued support towards my academic. In school we were also able to choose new student leaders who are to lead us in the two consecutive semesters to come. We also had different concerts in school but the most memorable one is the Culture Week, this is because different students from different ethnic groups showcased their cultures and beliefs, the event also granted students free performance like art, music among others, and I am very glad that I had the opportunity to perform as well. Things that were difficult The most difficult part was just raising the tuition fees, but I want to return my gratitude to the organization for the upkeep which helped me pay part of it. Any financial assistance e.g. Helb I had applied for Helb but still waiting for the response One of my aunt payed for my hostel for two months. Plans for the next semester I am planning to raise my tuition fees on time and also do some additional units that is studying other languages like Japanese which is offered for free. Any additional Comments I appreciate the support I have received from CMETrust and I am much honored for the opportunity and also receiving the upkeep money earlier.
