READING PROFICIENCIES/ COMPETENCIES

Throughout SY 2021–2022. Out of 150 students from Grades 4 to 6 that were examined, 87
scored below Independent level, according to the Phil IRI post test results. In Grade 4, which is
Independent Level, there were 22 males and 14 females. In Grade 5, there were 12 males and 14 females,
and in Grade 6, there were 8 males and 17 females. 44 pupils who were diagnosed with this level of
reading evaluation are listed under Instructional. There are 3 males and 3 females in grade 4, 12 males
and 9 females in grade 5, and 10 males and 7 females in grade 6. And none of the learners assessed were
diagnosed as Non-Readers.

As evidenced by the data below, there is a little increase in the proportion of female learners who
are classified as independent, similar with instructional and frustration levels. However, as you can see
from the graph, none of the pupils are now categorized as non-readers as a result of the reading
intervention that was conducted at the school and the activities that were given to them. There are also
instances when none of the kids reach the Frustration Level due to the continued implementation of the
reading program and other school activities.

Frustration Instructional Independent Non Reader

During the school year 2021-2022. The Phil IRI post test results revealed that 129 of the
206 learners assessed from Grades 7 to 10 were at the Independent level, with 40 in Grade 7, 21
male and 19 female, 36 in Grade 8, 22 male and 14 female, 25 in Grade 9, 13 male and 12
female, and 28 in Grade 10, 9 male and 19 female. Instructional Level was assigned to 71
students. There were 19 in Grade 7, 14 male and 5 female, 18 in Grade 8, 16 male and 2 female,
15 in grade 9, 12 male and 3 female, and 19 in grade 10, 16 male and 3 female. Frustration level
was assigned to 6 out of 206 people. There are four in grade 7, three males and one female, and
one male in each of grades 8 and 9. And none of them are categorized as Non Readers.
According to the data, the majority of female learners are at the Independent Level of
reading, while many male learners are at the Instructional and Frustration Levels. It is likely that
during the pandemic, most students, particularly male students, did not thoroughly study their
lessons. However, as a result of the reading intervention that was implemented in the school and
the activities that were assigned to them, the students' reading levels have improved, and as you
can see on the graph, none of them are classified as non-readers. And, due to the ongoing
implementation of the reading program and other school activities, there are times when none of
the students fall into the Frustration Level.
