I – OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the student will be able to:
a. elicit words or phrases that emphasizes social issues from the song
listened;
b. evaluate the issues mentioned in the song listened; and
c. determine relevance and truthfulness of the ideas.
II – SUBJECT MATTER
A. Topic: Social Issues
B. Values: to become aware of the things that are happening everywhere.
C. Reference/s: Module 4 – Holding on to a dream in a changing
Pages 424-426 in the Book A journey through Anglo-
American Literature, English 9.
D. Materials: Laptop, Speaker, Printed Materials and Copy of the song
III - PROCEDURE
A. Activity
1. Review: The teacher will ask the learners about the task they previously
made.
2. Motivation: The teacher will show random pictures to the class and ask
some student to give their observation of the picture. Then, the teacher will
ask the learners if they notice any problem or issues upon watching the
pictures.
3. Setting of standards:
1. The teacher will instruct the learners to listen and watch a video of the
song “THE RIVERS OF DREAMS”.
2. The students will be asked to predict words or phrases that they
expected to hear from the song through its title.
3. Then, the students will figure out if there is any social issue lingering in
the song.

IV – Evaluation
In a ½ crosswise. (10 points)
1. Write a news report about social issues.
V. Assignment
Think of a recommendation for a solution to social issues around the society.
