A SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN

I. LEARNING COMPETENCY
Recognize that soil, water, rocks, coal, and other fossil fuels are Earth materials that
people use as resources (S7ES-IVb-3)

II. CONTENT:
A. Objectives: At the end of the session, the learners should be able to:
1. Trace the formation of soil from rocks; and
2. Identify factors acting together on rocks to form soil.

IV. PROCEDURE:
PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
1. Prayer
2. Checking of Attendance
3. Setting of Standards

A. ELICIT
Earth is made up of what?

B. ENGAGE
The Class will be divided into 4 groups.
Each group will choose 1 representative to get the activity kit from their
teacher.
Every group representatives will present their output in the class.
The Teacher will ask the students with this question:
What is the relationship of the 2 picture?

C. EXPLORE
To answer the question, the Teacher will present another activity.
With the same group, another representative will get the activity kit from
their teacher.

Perform Activity #4: How are Soils Formed from Rocks? Page 289 of the
Module.

One (1) representative of each group will present their output in the class.

D. EXPLAIN
Discussion Analysis (From the given group activity)
Explain the factors that act together in rocks to form soil.
E. ELABORATE
To check the understanding of the students, the teacher will let the students do
another activity by constructing an essay about What does “Soils were once
rocks” mean?

F. EVALUATE
Give the different factors of soil formation. (5 points)

G. EXTEND
Differentiate “ROCKS” from “SOIL”.
