Abstract: This section presents an overview of the life cycle of wolves. A gray wolf begins its life cycle in its
mother's body. The pup is born in a litter, and each litter has about four to seven pups. The pup Export

Every animal goes through a set of changes called a life cycle. A life cycle is made up of all

When a female wolf is ready to give birth, she finds a den. A den is a safe shelter where she
gives birth and takes care of her pups after they are born. The pups live in the den for the
first three to four weeks of their lives. The pack protects the den from predators.

When the pups are one to two months old, they join the rest of the pack at a rendezvous site, or meeting place. The pups
grow, play, and learn to hunt at the rendezvous site. When the pups become juveniles, they learn to hunt with the pack.

A gray wolf begins its life cycle inside its mother's body. The pup, or baby wolf, is born in a litter, or group of pups. Each
litter has four to seven pups.

The pup nurses for at least four weeks. It then starts eating other foods as well.

When a wolf is about six months old, it is called a juvenile. Juveniles spend a lot of time playing together! They jump on
one another and wrestle.
