2. Recognize the different stages of the life cycle of animals undergoing complete
metamorphosis.

A. Content Standard Different Organisms go through life cycle which can be affected by their
environment
B. Performance Standard
The learners should be able torecognize and compare the different stages in the life
cycle of animals

1. What do you call the animals that lives in the water? Give examples of Aquatic Animals
1. Review 2. What do you call the animals that lives on land? Give examples of terrestrial animals

2. Unlocking of Difficulties Identify the meaning of the following words through pictures.(English Integration)
1.Metamorphosis- is a biological process by which an animal physically develops ,grow,
and change its form

2.Chrysalisis also known as Pupa making a cocoon around themselves. They do not
eat for a few days but many changes happens to its body.

a. b. c. d.

3. Larvae- hatch from egg but does not look like the adult insect. Larvae grow quickly
enough to molt or shed their exoskeleton.
a. b c d

4. The Adult is where the life cycle starts over again and has as complete body part.

3. Motivation

A. Picture Puzzle (Game)

Each group will be given a cut out picture place inside an envelop andassemble them in
order to identify the insect.
B. Reading a Poem (English Integration)
The BUTTERFLY Life
( Poem )
A butterfly begins
By laying all her eggs
Out pops a caterpillar
Crawling on its legs
The caterpillar first is
Very, very thin
But it eats and eats and eats
Till it burst out through its skin!

Soon the caterpillars

Grew nice and big
So it climbs on top
Of a tiny leaf or twig.
It makes a hard shell And there it hangs inside
The shell soon cracks
And then the parts divide.

Now here's a fact

That’s really, really strange:
Inside the shell
There’s been a major change
When the shell opens,
What comes out?
A beautiful butterfly
Fluttering about!

C. Poem Comprehension
Ask: What is the Poem all about?
What is the beginning of the Butterfly’s life?
What comes out from the egg?
How does the caterpillar move?
What is the food of the caterpillar?
What will happen to its skin after eating a lot?
Describe the major change of the caterpillar after it makes a hard shell or
cocoon?

A. Group Activity (Cooperative Learning)

B. Exploration
 See attached activity sheets

 Divide the class into 4 groups

 Each group is given an envelop for Groups 1,2,3, 4
 Read the instructions before they will proceed to the proper activity.
 Group Activity will be graded using a Rubrics ( see attached Rubrics)

B. Setting standard in doing the activity

Ask:What are the Standard in Doing Group Activity?
1. Follow the given directions.
2. Work cooperatively.
3. Work quietly.
4. Work fast.
5. Work neatly.
C. Go around and follow-up the conduct of activity by each group.Remind each group
that they will be presenting their gathered data in class after finishing their activity.

D. Group Reporting

A. Discussion and Analysis (Math Integration)

1. Ask:
 What life cycles of animals are included in our activity?
2.Presentation of the illustrations of the life cycle of the butterfly, mosquito, fly and bettle
1. What is the first stage of their life cycle?
2. How do their eggs looks like?
3. What is the second stage of their life cycle?
4. How does their larva looks like?
5. What is the third stage of their life Cycle?
6. How does their pupa looks like?
7. What is the fourth stage of their life cycle?
8. How does their adult looks like?
9. How many stages are their in a complete metamorphosis?
10. Enumerate the stages of a complete Metamorphosis
B. Video Presentation (ICT)
• Life Cycle of a Complete Metamorphosis
Ask:
• What animals undergoes complete metamorphosis?
• Where do they lay their eggs?
• At what stage of its life cycle it is consider as pest and destructive to the farmers,
Why?
• At what stage it rest and develops?
• What is the last stage of their life cycle?
C. Generalization
1. What is a Complete Metamorphosis?
2. What are the stages of a Complete Metamorphosis?
3. Name animals that undergoes Complete Metamorphosis?

C. Elaboration
A. Answering Varied Worksheets of Complete Metamorphosis (Diversity of
Learners)
B. Values infusion(ESP Integration)
Ask: a. Are butterflies useful or harmful insects?
b. So the next time you see a butterfly, are you going to harm them or not?
c. Are mosquitoes and flies useful or harmful insects? Why?
d. Where do they lay their eggs?
e. How can we prevent mosquitoes and flies from breeding?

Lesson 1 : Materials that absorb water

What you need:

 Medium rubber balls
 Cotton balls
 Sponge
 Face towel
 Cotton cloth
 Rug
 Tissue paper
 Tap water
 Dropper or dipper

What to do :
1. The whole group will listen to the instruction given by the teacher.
1. Choose among the members who will act as, timer, recorder, leader and presenter.
2. The leaders will get from the teacher the materials to be used for the activity.
3. Put materials one by one in the basin. Observe each characteristics and write them on
the chart below.

Name of Characteristics of the Material Put a ( )if material

objects absorbs water or (X) if

adding water adding water

5. Lift up the materials and squeeze. Let the water drip down on the basin. Did the water
come out? Why or why not.
6 Record the observation in the chart.
7. Do the same for each material.
8. After observing all the materials, clean up the working place for further use. Discuss
your observation in the class.

Guide Questions:

1. What characteristics did you observe from each of the materials before placing
them in water? When you squeeze each of the materials what comes out from
them.

2. Did all the materials absorb water?

3. Which of the materials absorb water? What are these materials made of?

4. Which of the materials did not absorb water? What are these materials made of?

5. Based on the activity, Classify the materials based on their ability to absorb water.
