Module 1:

Overview

This module focused in recognizing the influence of the family in a person’s life.
What one learns in the family determines and shapes ones future life. Hence, the task that a
person are expected to perform as family member as well as the factors to consider in
establishing harmony and satisfaction with the family are points that you will know in
reading the details that follow.

Significantly, through this area, the student will be exposed to productive activities
relevant to your physical, social, and emotional development. Eventually, one will grow into
mature individual ready to face the realities of life with courage and determination.

Introduction:

In this lesson, you will learn how to assess yourself and you will able how to determine the
strength and weakness of yourself. Moreover, you will learn to develop sound outlook in life.

MOTIVATIONAL ACTIVITY:

Direction: Get a partner from the member of the family. Let him/her sees in you. Agree on
how you will strengthen your weaknesses.

ABSTRACTION:

What is self-assessment?
Self-assessment is an effective way to develop ones personality. It provides opportunity to
understand oneself better and to relate oneself with other members of the family more
effectively.
Before one can understand others, he must understand himself first. To understand himself, e
must view himself as he actually is, and not as he wants himself to be. In short, one must
learn the art of self-criticism.

What is strength and weaknesses?


Factors that Influence Ones Outlook in Life
1. In the Mother’s Womb
Recent studies have shown that a baby inside a mother’s womb develops not only
physiologically but psychologically and emotionally as well. The mothers feeling o love or
insecurity can be passed on to the unborn child.
2. At Home
We learn at home basic lessons in life, such as love, respect, obedience, cooperation, and
acceptance. Early on, learn to see and appropriate the beauty of life.
3. In School and among Friends
The school environment can influence child’s viewpoint in life. School requires standard
behavior and learning to guide the childs as he/she grows up and develops into a grown up
living.
4. Media and Communication
Television, movies, newspaper, magazines, radio, and more recently video gaming, texting
and the internet provide information that educate and arouse public interest.

Lesson 4: Harmony and Satisfaction in Family Relationship
Introduction:
Family members should fulfill their responsibilities at home with fervor. Permanent social
ties as love, and natural regard of others spring from the parenthood and fulfillment of home
responsibilities.
Filipinos are widely known to have close family ties. The members enjoy each other’s
company. They are ready to help one another and are proud of their family background.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this module you are able to:
• Describe home responsibilities as a responsible family member;
• Assess the task performed to become responsible family member;

Motivational Activity:
Direction: Research on the web a study on the causes of broken home. Write your answer in a

Abstraction:
Home Responsibilities of Family Members
Being a teenager can sometimes be tough because of the developmental tasks you have to go
through. Among them are the following:
1. Setting up goals
2. Choosing a philosophy or a sound outlook in life
3. Identifying your values and determining those that guide your life
4. Developing your potentials and overcoming your weaknesses
5. Learning to deal with you emotions and trying to control them.
6. Performing household chores
7. Managing your allowance wisely
8. Developing your ability to make decisions
9. Communicating your feelings and problem competently
10. Becoming physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually healthy
For the Adult members of the family the following are expected to them:
1. Mother – takes charge of housekeeping activities, take care of the children, plans the
meals, and manages family income and shows love and attention to family members.
2. Father – takes the position of head of the family acts as breadwinner of the family and
provides for his family.
3. Other Adult Member – serve as models of desirable traits to the children, and help in
giving parental guidance especially in the absence of the parents.
Harmony and Satisfaction in Family Relationship
These are the factors that help family members achieve harmony and satisfaction in their
responsibilities;

Lesson 5: Productive Family Activities & Facing the Inevitable
Introduction:
Life will not be interesting and worth living if it is all work and no play. Thus, every family
must engage in productive activities for the physical, mental, social, and emotional
development of the members.
Learning Objectives:
After reading this module learners will be able to:
• Identify and classify productive activities that families can engage;
• Discuss the factor to be considered in planning for recreational or productive activities
Motivational Activity:
Classify the activities below, according to purpose as amusement, relaxation, physical
development, additional income, social development, or talent enhancement. You can have
more than one purpose for each activity.

There are some productive family activities according to purpose and their example:

1. For joy and relaxation

Swimming, watching TV, and playing activities


2. For Generating Incomes

Handicraft, baking, candy making, growing orchids, and other flowering plants

3. For Mental growth

Playing musical instrument, chess, domino, scrabble,

4. For Amusement

Field trips, sightseeing, and mountain climbing

Planning activities for relaxation or amusement;

1. Necessity of the activity – the activity is needed when work and study are over

2. Interest an ability of family members – must have an interest on the activity and must
possess the ability to perform it, so that satisfaction and happiness can be achieve

3. Affordability of the cost – budgets allow the expenses to be incurred during the activity.
Necessarily, activity must be cheap but entertaining.

4. Worthiness of the activity – must truly amuse and relax the family members. It must be
develop the mind and enhance creativity while they are relaxing

5. Community Involvement – It gives opportunities for community involvement are


considered inspiring. They do not relax the body and mind, but they also open opportunities
for socialization. Dealing with other people widens the family’s understanding of their
neighbors, their sentiments, their aspirations, and even their problems.

Facing the Inevitable

The following are events that come inevitable or unexpectedly:
