At the end of 45-minute period,the students will be able to:

A.identify correctly statements of fact and opinion;


B.differentiate fact from opinion;
C.formulate statements of fact and opinion;and
D.realize the importance of respect in diverse opinions.

Activity 1.

The teacher will do the motivation part which is an activity called “Think and
Share “ where students are going to share something about certain images or
characters shown through a pop up.

2. Essential Idea
Facts are statement that can be proven and can be checked by doing research.
They are always true. The qualities of facts: has evidences or proofs; can be
observed; can be found in dictionary, map, encyclopedia.
On the other hand,Opinion are statements that cannot be proven. They show
what a person thinks, feels, or believes. Qualities of opinions: has a personal
belief, or a claim; cannot be proven; has emotional language; tells what someone
thinks, feel, believes

EXPLORE PHASE

Activity 1.
READ & ANALYZE!

Activity 1.

The students will be divided into 2 groups.Both groups will be given words.They
will paste it in the venn diagram on the board.
Activity 2.
The students will play a game called “order me”.The student from the last seat
will demand the student on the first seat whether to give a fact and opinion.This
goes on and on until the last.

Activity 3.
With the same group, each group will be given texts.They will pick out the factual
statements and opinionated statements from the text.After, the two groups will
exchange papers and check it based on the answers that will be shown by the
teacher on the projector.
APPLY PHASE

The students will be given worksheets for them to answer.

IV. Generalization

The teacher will call for differentiation and summary.

V. Assignment

For your assignment, choose one activity below.


A. Write a 10- sentence essay about what you feel during the outbreak of
Covid – 19. Make sure to use statements of fact and opinion.

B. You have to watch television news and list down 5 facts and 5 opinions
you have heard.
