OVERVIEW:

The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has created a global


health crisis that has had a deep impact on the way we perceive our world and our
everyday lives. Not only the rate of contagion and patterns of transmission threatens
our sense of agency, but the safety measures put in place to contain the spread of
the virus also require social distancing by refraining from doing what is inherently
human, which is to find solace in the company of others. Learning in a new normal is
a challenge for the teachers, learners and even parents. Its flexibility enables
individual to learn at their own pace as they prepare for their future. It is fit in the time
of the COVID-19 pandemic as it ensures that learners will be able to continue their
educational journey at home. The alternative learning modalities in order to promote
and protect the right of every children to receive quality education despite the raging
pandemic.

Reading in Grade II is one of the top Priority Improvement Areas in our


School Improvement Plan, being English teachers in our school, we are so worried
and disappointed of learners’ performance in Reading (DOLCH Basic Sight Words)
specifically in this time of pandemic and type of teaching modality offered.
To solve this problem, in Distance Learning Modality, I teacher of

adopt the effectiveness of this innovation……Casa Visita in Grade II


Struggling Readers in English.
May this innovation will work out to help my learners to attain our educational
goals, and that is, to give learners quality education even in this time of pandemic.

INNOVATION DESCRIPTION

This innovation will help learners to read even CVC words and when this
happens, the ease of reading will be guaranteed and through this we can produce
SMART learners for the near future because reading makes me smart. Casa Visita is
a service that is provided within the home of families with their young children. It
provides support for parents to better understand their learner’s development skills
through daily home activities. Innovation materials will be provided to every learner.

Activity sheets will be distributed to identified 6 Grade II learners of for this


school year 2021-2022. The teacher will initiate to provide per week with
activities/exercises based on MELC, this will be monitored every end of the week.
After the Pre-Implementation, Implementation and Post-Implementation, the
monitoring team will be the one to check and monitor the adaptation and progress of
every learner.

INNOVATION STATEMENT

The main goal of this educational innovation is to achieve literacy among


Grade II learners as manifested by zero non-reader among learners.
