Lesson Plan for the month of March 2022

Topic: Algorithmic Thinking and Problem Solving
Subject: Computer  Grade: VI
* Introduction to Problem Solving
Teacher: Ms Munazza Duration: 4 weeks

Phase - 1 Task Details “Introduction to Problem Solving ”

AIM Learning Goals
● I want students to know what an algorithm is and design a set of step- by-step instructions to
solve a problem.
● I want students to analyse a given problem statement and extract important information.
● I want students to apply their knowledge to Integrate solutions to sub-problems and to solve the
main problem.
Learning Outcomes Assessment
At the end of the session students will be able to:
Given a problem statement,
identify ● Worksheets
● What is given - facts  ● Practical
● Data needed to solve the problem - input  ● Activities
● The output of the problem given certain input  ● Exit tickets
● Enter tickets.
Given a problem   ● Comprehensions
● Video / Audio based
● statement, be able to extract out important information
● Verbal assessments.
● Understand what an algorithm is and design a set of step
by-step instructions to solve a problem
● Determine output of a problem, given a set of step-by-
step instructions
● Decompose a problem into sub-problems
● Integrate solutions to sub-problems to solve the main
problem.
● Introduction to algorithm through simple daily
life problems
Suggested Activities:
Given a recipe, determine  ingredients
This includes several unplugged activities:
Given a maze, a robot, and a set of instructions the robot can
follow, determine how to perform tasks using the given
instructions, determine the task completed given a set of
instructions, etc.
Given a sequence of numbers, determine the next number
Guess the identity of a classmate given a set of
qualities/features.
