Lesson Plan: Digital information and communication technologies and English

language teaching in the context of technical education

Objective:
 Students will understand the potential benefits of incorporating digital
information and communication technologies (ICTs) into English language
teaching in the context of technical education.
 They will also be able to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of different
types of ICTs and propose specific activities or lessons in which these
technologies can be used.

Materials:
 PowerPoint presentation
 Handout with references
 Laptops or tablets for students (optional)

Procedure:

Introduction (10 minutes)


 Begin the class by introducing the topic of the lesson. Ask students if they are
familiar with the concept of ICTs and their potential use in language learning.
 Provide a brief overview of the main points that will be covered during the
lesson, such as the benefits of incorporating ICTs into language teaching, the
challenges of integrating ICTs into the curriculum, and the importance of careful
planning and implementation.

Presentation (20 minutes)


 Show the PowerPoint presentation, highlighting the main points and providing
examples of how ICTs can be used to support language learning.
 Encourage students to ask questions and participate in discussions throughout
the presentation.

Activity (10 minutes)


 Divide the class into small groups and ask them to brainstorm a list of different
types of ICTs that can be used for language learning.
 Ask each group to select one ICT tool from their list and research it further.

Conclusion (10 minutes)


 As a class, discuss the different types of ICTs that were researched and the
potential benefits and limitations of each.
 Distribute the handout with references and explain the importance of citing
sources.
 Introduce the homework assignment and go over the instructions and
requirements.

 Completion and quality of the homework assignment
