The activity was started with pride and excitement in the part of
the stakeholders for they will be able to know salient information and
skills in propagating one of the highly valued vegetable crops in the
locality i.e. lettuce.
It all started with a plan that will be later turned into reality. The
training was participated by teachers, members of the PTA,4Ps and
barangay LGUs. After materials and IT equipment have been set up it
was then followed by a short opening program led by the LSES faculty
members. Orientation on the day’s activity and introduction of the
resource speaker was done by the school principal-Richard Edquila. The
demonstration and lecture of the speaker-Raymond Merced came
afterwards giving more emphasize on the following topics 1. Benefits of
hydroponics gardening 2. Green house preparation and budget allocation
3. Seeds, solutions, coconut peat and other materials and their uses and
importance 4. Sustainability of the project 5. Suggestive tips for
beginners.
Most of the participants showed interest as they kept on asking
questions during and after the presentation. Queries have been answered
precisely by the experienced and knowledgeable speaker. Everyone
seemed to be satisfied. They departed with gratefulness bringing with
them the lesson and skills they need ready to do their own innovation
project in gardening.
Giving technical assistance and a visit on school’s garden site
ended the morning activity.
