(c)  How much work is done in moving a small test charge from the point (5, 0, 0) to (-7, 0, 0) along the x-axis?
05. The capacities of three capacitors are in the ratio 1:2:3. Their equivalent capacity in parallel is greater than the
equivalent capacity in series by 60/11pF. Calculate the individual capacitances.
06. A storage battery of emf 8.0 V and internal resistance 0.5Ω is being charged by a 120 V dc supply using a
series resistor of 15.5Ω. What is the terminal voltage of the battery during charging? What is the purpose of
having a series resistor in the charging circuit?

08. A closely wound solenoid 80cm long has 5 layers of windings of 400 turns each. The diameter of the solenoid is

11. A 0.5m long solenoid of 10 turns/cm has area of cross-section 1cm2. Calculate the voltage induced
across its ends if the current in the solenoid is changed from 1A to 2A in 0.1s.

current I (ii) instantaneous power P (iii) the frequency of power and (iv) the maximum energy stored in
the capacitor.
13. A 200V variable frequency a.c. source is connected to a series combination of L = 5H, and
. Calculate (i) angular frequency of the source to get maximum current in the circuit, (ii) the
current amplitude at resonance and (iii) the power dissipated in the circuit.
14. An inductor 200mH, capacitor 500μF, resistor 10Ω are connected in series with a 100V, variable frequency ac
source. Calculate the (i) frequency at which power factor of circuit its unity, (ii) current amplitude at this
frequency, (iii) Q-factor.
15. Calculate the current drawn by the primary of a transformer, which steps down 200V to 20V to operate a device
of resistance . Assume the efficiency of the transformer to be 80%.
