Primary research task sheet…

You are required to conduct a survey with a sample size of at least ten people, asking them
the three questions listed in task one. Complete the other tasks on here which follow it and
place them on your website in the “Research” section. Call the document/information you
produce for this sheet your PRIMARY RESEARCH.

TASK ONE:
Question 1: Name an example of an animation or scene which has made you feel
HAPPY. Explain WHY it did.
Family guy makes me happy as there is a lot of comedy and is a very funny show.

Question 2: Name an example of an animation or scene which has made you feel SAD.
Explain WHY it did.
Tom and Jerry made me sad as Tom always gets treated unfairly, specifically in one episode where he
was trying to win over the girl, that he liked but his enemy kept one upping him and winning her
affections.

Question 3: Name an example of a piece of audio you feel really added to an animation. It
could be a sound effect, voice actor, ambience or music. (U5, LO1, AC1.2)
One of my favourite sound affects is from Looney Tunes as I like the sound it makes when the
Tasmanian devil spins around to get to places as it sounds like a drill.

Explain how you are going to ask these questions, how you will record the answers and
how you will represent them on your Weebly page.

TASK TWO:
Question 1: How are you going to ask these questions? (hint: methods of reaching
your audience)
The way that I have asked these questions is by keeping them short and simple, this will
allow them to not have to think too hard about this and have them doing it for too long.
Another way that I will reach the audience is by asking questions that are interesting, this
will allow the audience to talk about what they are most interested in.
Question 2: How will you record the answers?
I will be recording the answers by taking screenshots of all the individual responses and
then uploading each one onto my Weebly.
Question 3: How will you interpret them and present this on your Weebly page?
By adding all images of each response onto my Weebly page with a little description of what has been
said.
TASK THREE:
When you’ve completed the survey, show evidence of it on Weebly. This could
include:
 screen grabs of the questions and results
 A URL/link to the survey.

TASK FOUR:

Write a short conclusion about what you’ve learnt from each question (maybe a common
pattern or trait?) and how the answers to each question might help you develop your
animation ideas.

- One thing that I have learnt from reading other people’s favourite animations is
that there is a common pattern for very happy scenes to be the favourite. By
reading happy scenes from other animations this can help me to develop my
own animation ideas as there is a lot that I can draw and create longer
animations from.
- One thing that I have learnt from reading the multiple different sad animation
scenes is that there are a lot of sad scenes that in the end were able to be
overturned and had a better outcome in the end, this helps massively when it
comes to developing my own ideas as if there ever is anything bad occurring, I
then know how I can turn that around in order to create a happier ending.
- From looking at all the different favoured audio’s I have learnt what types of
audios would fit best in certain scenes. This would help me to develop my own
animation ideas as I now have a lot of different audio’s that I can use later on if
needed.
