HIGHLIGHTS AND REQUIREMENTS MANAGEMENT

Below are some examples of the requirements that can be found in the standard

Inspection Plans
 This PNR contains Appendix IV - Visual, Thermographic and Ultrasonic Inspection Checklist, which
contains the activities required to check the condition of the air lines;

Design Criteria
 Methodology for mechanical design of overhead lines: loading assumption, wind data, environmental
pollution for insulator sizing, admissible foundation types, control of step and touch voltages and
electromagnetic interference;

Critical controls
 Safety distance, wind vibration dampers, physical barrier, maintenance procedure, assembly procedure,
right-of-way, and signage;

Commissioning
 Assembly verification, pre-energizing and post-energizing conditions;

Decommissioning
 Definition
8 of protocol for deactivation and decommissioning.
EXAMPLES OF DEVELOPMENT / PNR ASSET
MANAGEMENT
APPLICATION
Example: Physical barrier.

In locations with the presence of people and machines

outside the operational context, with motorized traffic, there
is the risk of collision with the support structures, thus the
physical barrier becomes a safety barrier for the integrity of
the overhead lines.
- Design: Evaluate the locations and specify the barriers
according to the operational context;
- Maintenance Plan: Include the inspection of existing
physical barriers;
- Maintenance: Ensure the integrity of the physical
barriers installed

PNR requirements may have more or less technical details, whatever is necessary to establish safe operational conditions.
Such requirements will be detailed in the project documents, procedures and operating plans for the application of the
9 Standard.

DEVELOPERS (MULTIPLIERS) MANAGEMENT

The standards are prepared by a multidisciplinary Technical Committee, made up of

representatives from various areas of Vale and specialist companies, under the leadership of
the Asset Management Board.

Committee participants have an important role as multipliers of standards: facilitating the

process of technical standard implementation, supporting their application and
deployment, and clarifying the understood.

Check the last Appendix to the standard and find out who are the representatives of your
area.
