Site Planning and Landscape Architecture
COURSE CODE: ARCH 30253
CREDIT UNITS: 3 credit units (5 hours)
COURSE PREREQUISITE: CIEN 20013 / ARCH 30192

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course encompasses the fundamental concepts and


methodologies in site planning and landscape architecture including the ecological, social and
psychological issues and implications involved in the study.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the course, you should be able to:

 Identify the proper meaning of planning and its purpose in the profession.

 Learn the fundamental concepts and methodologies in site planning and landscape
architecture.

 Produced development plans in consideration of building and site design.

 Explain the art of site planning and landscape architecture, exposition on their principles
and methods of construction.

 Relate the social issues and implications of site planning.

 To relate history and planning theories to ecology and sustainable development.

Create a simple plan for a one bedroom residential with the consideration of the
following:
 Passive daylighting and passive cooling.
 SHOW WIND FLOW INSIDE THE BUILDING ON PLAN OR SIMILAR TO THE
IMAGE BELOW.
 SHOW DAYLIGHT PENTRATION INSIDE THE BUILDING ON
SECTION/ELEVATION.
 Avoiding glare on the habitable areas: living, dining, kitchen and bedroom
 Use vegetation for engineering and architectural purposes and provide elements
for wildlife habitat.
 Compute for the slope.
