Lesson: Day trip to London
Materials used: students themselves, worksheet, laptop, projector, smart board, board
Time: 50 minutes.
Skills: listening, writing and speaking.
Objectives: - Students will be able to anticipate the content of the text, discussing the
title of the text,
Students will be able to identify details from videos, key-information from native
speakers
Students will be able to write short paragraphs on the topic “London” based on the
information provided by the video.
Students will be able to express opinions related to the topic.

Activity1 : Lead in- questions and answers

Aim: to introduce the new topic to the students, the students will be able to anticipate the
content of the text.
Time: 5 minutes.
Procedure: the teacher asks the students the following questions:
1. What do you know about London? Can you remember some important
places from this city?
2. what do you expect to find out from today’s lesson?
3. What does the title of the lesson suggest?
Students are supposed to come up with answers. The teacher gives feed-back.

Activity 2 : Listening comprehension

Aim: to help students extract the most important details about London watching a video
Time: 20 minutes.
Procedure: the students will watch a video in which the city of London is being
presented. They will receive a worksheet on which they will have to complete 7
sentences based on what they are listening. The students will have to work in pairs for
this task.
Teacher explains any unknown words and gives the translation.
Teacher gives them feed-back.

Activity 3 : Speaking activity

Aim: students will be able to speak freely about their opinions related to the topic

Time:10 minutes.
Procedure: students will provide their opinions by answering the questions on the
worksheet. They will speak freely to each other, sharing their thoughts and ideas. The
teacher monitors them and gives feed-back.

Activity 5: Discover London – writing activity

Aim: students will be able to work with the knowledge acquired on London.
Time: 10 minutes
Procedure: students will have to write an essay , creating their own day-trip to London.
They will use the information acquired in this lesson about London’s famous tourist
attractions.

Activity 6: Feed-back and home-work.

Aim: to review vocabulary related to London.
Time: 5 minutes
Procedure: students will have to create a power point presentation about ONE attraction
they liked most.
