CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

This chapter describes and discusses how the researchers will gather the necessary data
and information that will be used in the entire study. It describes who will be the respondent and focus
of the research. This also shows the procedure of data collection and instruments used, this chapter
also discuss the type of research design, research method, and the research locale where the study
will be conducted.

Research Design

In this current study, the researchers used Quantitative Research Design because it deals
with the numerical data that involves collecting and analyzing data.

Locale of the Study

The study will be conducted at Tanauan National High School located at Imperio St., Brgy.
Canramos, Tanauan, Leyte. The researchers choose the local because its near the vicinity.

Population and Sample

The research respondents were the selected Grade 12 Senior High School students. It
composes 100 respondents: 50 girls and 50 boys. Simple random sampling technique was used to
determine the respondents.

Research Instrument

In this study, we used structured interview instrument. The questions divided into two parts
namely: Part I contain the profile of the respondents and Part II would be the following question that is
needed to answer for conducting this study about the number of using cellphone and its effect to the
academic performance of the students.

Data Collection and Analysis

To achieve the purpose of this study, the researchers asked permission to conduct an
survey question among selected Grade 12 Senior High School Students of Tanauan National High
School of through a formal asking permit to conduct the study upon the approval of the request.
The copies letter of consent for the participants were distributed. The participant were
informed about the purpose of the study to gather the needs with reliability and they have a chance to
withdraw if they don’t want to be one of the respondents.
