At the end of the lesson the pupils should be able to;
A. Identify and differentiate command and request imperative sentences;
B. Value the importance of time management;
C. Write imperative sentence.

Topic: Identifying, using and differentiating Imperative Sentences (Command or Request)
Materials: manila paper, strips and pictures

B. Presentation
1. Motivation
Read the dialog of a teacher and a pupil.

2. Unlocking Difficulties
a. Who are the main characters in the story?
b. What is the selection all about?
c. Why did Joseph apologize to his teacher?
d. What should Joseph do to show that he learned his lesson?

3. Discussion
Imperative Sentence
-expresses command or request
- it ends with a period, exclamation point or question mark
Examples.
 Bring out your assignment, class.
 Will you please tell me why?
 Close the door!
Command
-tells what someone must do
Example:
 Stay at home and finish it first.
Request
-tells politely what we want someone to do
Example:
 Please give me another chance Mrs. Cruz.
 4. Application
Group Activities:
Group the pupils into four. Let them classify whether the Imperative sentence is
Command or Request.

5. Generalization
What is the difference of a command and request sentence?
 Command tells you what to do while Request tells you what to do in a polite
way.

IV. Evaluation
Write Command if the sentence tells you what to do and Request if the sentence used
polite words.
