Language is one of the most important parts of any culture.

It is the way by which

people communicate with one another, build relationships, and create a sense of
community.

I met a friend of my girlfriend here in University of Mindanao and she only speaks
bisaya and since me and my girlfriend can speak two languages the mandaya and
bisaya. Every time we walk outside the school, me and my girlfriend always talks and
we only speaks mandaya because it is our language in our province. Our friend was
confused on what we speak and she doesn’t understand what we are talking about.
That’s why we ask her on what she feels on the way we speak our language and she
said that she was shock and doesn’t understand because of the way we speak like we
have like some motions and expressions on how we deliver our conversations. And she
said that she wants to learn our language and that’s why she can literally understand
our language and to avoid language barrier. So we teach her some simple words that
can easily know and today she slowly knowing our language and yet she can
understand now our conversation and speaks simple mandaya language.
