1. Present Continuous
The present continuous verb tense indicates that an action or condition is happening
now, frequently, and may continue into the future.
Change into affirmative, negative or question the following sentences. You can be guided by
the structure.

Affirmative
Subject/ verb to be/ verb + ing/ complement.
Pamela is playing basketball.
Negative
Subject/ verb to be/ not/ verb + ing/ complement.
Joey is not jumping on the bed.
Question

Is Maria cleaning her room?

2. Past Continuous
The past continuous is a verb tense which is used to show that an ongoing past action was
happening at a specific moment of interruption, or that two ongoing actions were
happening at the same time.
Change into affirmative, negative or question the following sentences. You can be guided by
the structure.

Affirmative
Subject/ verb to be in past/ verb + ing/ complement.
Ricardo was washing his car.
Negative
Subject/ verb to be in past/ not/ verb + ing/ complement.
Rachel was not helping his father.
Question
