RESEARCH DESIGN

This research used a qualitative type of research. The researcher uses qualitative type of research as it
involves non-numerical data which provide insights into the problem and helps to develop and gain
understanding of opinions, motivations and point of view of the people involved. This method was
used to ensure a more representative sample as it captures the lived experiences of teachers in senior
high school transitioning in face-to-face classes from online learning and examine their perceptions
as they experienced the event.

According to Shank (2002), qualitative research is a sort of systematic empirical inquiry into
meaning, where systematic is defined as planned or organized and public. He uses the term empirical
to imply that this kind of research is based on actual experience. It studies things in their natural
settings, attempting to make sense of or interpret phenomena in terms of the meaning people bring to
them (Sorenson and MacGregor 2003)

According to Bhat (2020), one-on-one interviews are one of the most popular qualitative research
techniques since they yield detailed information. This approach involves conducting a one-on-one
personal interview with each responder. It is solely a conversational approach and presents chances to
get in-depth information from the respondents.

Therefore, interviews are most suitable when little is known about the research topic or when specific
participant insights are needed. There are also particularly suitable questions for examining what
kinds of challenges they have had. To learn more about the struggles and experiences of the teachers
at Cebu Eastern College, the researcher conducted a one-on-one interview (CEC).

INSTRUMENT OF THE STUDY

The researchers conduct a One-on-One Interview in collecting data regarding the lived
experiences of the senior high school teachers transitioning in face-to-face classes from online
learning.

According to Ryan, F., Coughlan, M., & Cronin, P. (2013), one-on-one interviews are a
common approach for gathering data in qualitative research. This approach involves conducting a
one-on-one personal interview with each responder.
The researchers decide to use this method for this study because of its advantages: It elicits a
participants narrative which allows the storyteller to remember a past event and recount it in light of
what is meaningful for them (Benner, 1994) - with the meaning being an essential component of
lived experiences.

These face-to-face interviews can last from around 30 minutes to an hour or even more. The
in-depth interview gives a better opportunity to obtain people's perceptions and lived experiences of
the respondents and match the response when it is conducted in person.

SAMPLE
The researchers used a purposive approach in sampling. According to Crossman (2020).
Purposive sampling is a non-probability sample that is selected based on characteristics of a
population and the objective of the study. Purposive Sampling is subjective and determined by the
researchers generating qualifications or criteria for each participant and is required to meet the
qualification.

Participants must fulfill these requirements in order to be eligible for this study. Participants
must be certified teachers at Cebu Eastern College's senior high school level with the age ranges of
25 to 40 years old.

PARTICIPANTS OF THE STUDY

The information that is produced from this research would not be possible without the help of
our participants. The scope of the study's participants is limited to 5 individuals who possess the
characteristics that the research is looking for. The participants are senior high school teachers in
Cebu Eastern College who are experiencing the aftermath of online to in person class.
