Spermatogenesis: This is the process in which sperm is produced in the testicle from the embryonic

precursors that pass on genetic and epigenetic information known as the Primordial Germ Cells.

Oogenesis: In layman’s terms, oogenesis is the process of formation of female gametes. Whereas the
gamete formed by spermatogenesis is essentially a motile nucleus, meaning a nucleus that has the ability
to move, the gamete formed by oogenesis contains all the materials needed to initiate and maintain
metabolism and development.

Menstruation: This is the process in which a woman releases unfertilized egg cells by means of
discharging blood. This happens about once every lunar month and is called a menstrual cycle.

Ovulation: This is the process in which a ‘mature’ egg cell (one that can be fertilized), moves down from
the ovary into the fallopian tube. Here, it obtains exposure towards sperm cells that may come its way and
fertilize it. It stays here for about 12 hours to a full day.

Fertilization: Fertilization is the process in which the male and female gamete (reproductive cell) meets.
Once ‘payload delivery’ is completed, and the sperm makes its way through the uterus which is
essentially an acidic battlefield which kills most and all sperm cells given enough time, the egg and the
sperm meet. Once the soldier makes contact with the target, the egg becomes a zygote which will
eventually lead into a fetus, into becoming a human baby.
