Legal Bases:
• RA 9003 (Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000)
• RA 6969 (The Toxic Substance and Hazardous and Nuclear Waste Control of 1990)
Segregation of Waste
Classrooms must have garbage bins separating recyclable (glass, cans, plastics),
Trash (cellophanes and wrappers), Compost (organic and biodegradable waste),
Infectious (sanitary napkin and used facemask) and paper.
• Proper disposal
Recyclable Materials/Paper
Plastic containers or bottles and papers should be disposed dry and clean and
stored orderly.
Stored recyclable materials/papers will be gathered by year level. The YES-O
will be responsible for the collection and disposal at the end of every quarter as
part of their Income Generating Project.
Trash
Classroom advisers will see to it that other non-biodegradable and unnecessary
trash is disposed daily at disposal area of grade level or per building.
Compost
Organic and other biodegradable waste (except paper) should be disposed in the
school’s compost pit (if available) or in the garden area of each classroom.
Disposal schedule may vary, it depends to the schedule of garbage collector.
Every end of the month, the YES-O will recognize the adviser and section that
follow the guidelines and maintain the cleanliness of their designated area.
