Kulturang Pilipino
urbano. Ginagamit ang patakarang ganito
ng mga bansang nakapagpreserba ng
kanilang kababalaghang arkitekura, at
buong lungsod mismo, nang daan-daang
taon, tulad ng Italya, Pransiya, Rumanya,
Alemanya, and Espanya. Itinataguyod ng
panukala ang paggamit at
reinterpretasyon ng mga katutubong,
kolonyal, at modernong estilong
arkitektura at paisahe na laganap o dating
laganap sa isang lungsod o munisipalidad.
Nilalayon ng panukala na paunlarin ang
renasimiyento sa Pilipinong paysaismo,
lalo na sa mga kabukiraning lugar na
maaaring baguhin para maging bagong
bayan ng pamanang arkitektura sa loob ng
50 taon. Sa kasamaang-palad, kulang ang
pagpapahalaga sa pagpepreserba ng
bayang pamana sa mga dalubhasa ng
arkitektura at inhenyeriang nakabase sa
Pilipinas, tulad ng sa kaso sa Maynila,
kung saan tinatanggap nang tinatanggap
at itinatayo nang itinatayo ang mga
panukalang negosyo para magtayo ng
mga istrakturang hindi nakakiling sa mga
istilong arkitektura ng Maynila ng mga
nasabing eksperto na mabisang lumilipol
sa paisaheng arkitekura ng Maynila nang
paisa-isang gusali. Bukod dito, hindi pa
namanipesto ang natatanging panukalan
sa arkitekura para maging aktwal na
patakaran dahil wala pang Kagawaran ng
Kultura. Ang lungsod ng Vigan lamang ang
nagsabatas ng ordinansang ganito na
humantong sa kanyang deklarasyon bilang
Pandaigdigang Pamanang Pook ng
UNESCO noong 1999 at sa pagkakaloob
ng iba't ibang pagkilala para sa
konserbasyon at pagpapanatili ng kanyang
katangi-tanging istlo ng arkitektura at
paisahe. Noong 2016, nagsampa si
senadora Loren Legarda ng panukalang-
batas na magtatatag ng Kagawaran ng
Kultura. Ipinakilala ang panukalang-batas
sa Senado noong Enero 2017 at
inaasahang maisasabatas ito sa huling
bahagi ng 2018 o sa unang bahagi ng
2019. Suportado ang panukalang-batas ng
9 pang senador mula sa iba't ibang
partido, alalaong baga'y, sina Bam Aquino,
Nancy Binay, Francis Escudero, Juan
Zubiri, Joseph Ejercito, Joel Villanueva,
Sherwin Gatchalian, Risa Hontiveros, at
Sonny Angara. Sinampa rin ang tatlong
katapat na panukalang-batas na
naglalayong magtatag ng Kagawaran ng
Kultura sa Kapulungan ng mga Kinatawan
ng Pilipinas, akda ni Christopher de
Venecia, Evilina Escudero, and Jose
Antonio Sy-Alvarado.[3][4]

Pagtutuli
Bawat taon, madalas sa Abril at Mayo,
pinapatuli ang libu-libong mga Pilipinong
batang lalaki. Ayon sa Pandaigdigang
Organisasyon sa Kalusugan (WHO), halos
90% ng lalaking Pilipino ay natuli, isa sa
pinakamataas na antas ng pagtutuli. Kahit
pinepetsahan ang pinanggalingan nito sa
pagdating ng Islam noong 1450, pinawi ng
sumunod na 200 taon ng pamumuno ng
Kastila ang mga relihiyosong dahilan para
sa pagtutuli. Gayunman, nagpatuloy ang
pagtutuli.

Pagsasayaw
Sine at midya
Ang mga taon ng paghubog ng pelikulang
Pilipino, na nagsimula noong dekada 1870,
ay naging panahon para sa pagkatuklas ng
pelikula bilang bagong paraan para
ipahayag ang mga likhang-sining.
Nagmula ang mga iskrip at
karakterisasyon sa mga pelikula sa mga
sikat na dulaan at panitikang Pilipino.

Edukasyon
Laro
Ang arnis, isang uri ng sining panlaban, ay
ang pambansang laro sa Pilipinas.[37]
Kabilang sa mga pinakasikat na laro ang
basketbol, boksing, putbol, bilyar, ahedres,
ten-pin bowling, balibol, karera ng kabayo,
Sepak Takraw at sabong. Sikat din ang
dodgeball, badminton, at tenis.
Nagkaroon ng pandaigdigang tagumpay
ang mga Pilipino sa mga palaro tulad ng
boksing, putbol, bilyar, ten-pin bowling, at
ahedres. Kabilang sa mga sikat na
manlalaro sina Manny Pacquiao, Flash
Elorde, at Francisco Guilledo sa boksing,
Paulino Alcántara sa putbol, Carlos
Loyzaga, Robert Jaworski, at Ramon
Fernandez sa basketbol, Efren Reyes at
Francisco Bustamante sa bilyar, Rafael
Nepomuceno sa ten-pin bowling, Eugene
Torre at Renato Naranja sa ahedres, at
Mark Munoz sa MMA. Bigatin ang
Pambansang Koponan ng Basketbol ng
Pilipinas sa Asia, ito ang may
pinakamahusay na pagganap sa lahat ng
mga Asyanong koponan sa Olimpiko at
pandaigdigang Kopa ng FBA.

Islas el Indios de Bisaias. Sipi: "The
Bisayans are called Pintados because they
are in fact so, not by nature although they
are well-built, well-featured and white, but
by painting their entire bodies from head to
foot as soon as they are young men with
strength and courage enough to endure the
torture of painting. In the old days, they
painted themselves when they had
performed some brave deed. They paint
themselves by first drawing blood with
pricks from a very sharp point, following the
design and lines previously marked by the
craftsmen in the art, and then over the fresh
blood applying an indelible black powder.
They do not paint the whole body at one
time, but part by part, so that the painting
takes many days to complete. In the former
times they had to perform a new feat of
bravery for each of the parts that were to be
painted. The paintings are very elegant, and
well proportioned to the members and
parts where they are located. I used to say
there, captivated and astonished by the
appearance of one of these, that if they
brought it to Europe a great deal of money
could be made by displaying it. Children are
not painted. The women paint the whole of
one hand and a part of the other."
