BUN & ASSOCIATES, a top tier award winning law firm legally registered with the Bar
Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia, is recruiting a qualified and motivated candidate to
fulfill the position of Knowledge Manager.

Main duties and responsibilities


General

• Ensure all functions under the purview of KM is in alignment with the firm’s business
strategy and objectives.
• Plan and budget KM expenses on an annual basis with regular reviews to ensure
adherence to the budget.
• Continuous improvement of KM systems and processes. Make automation and
innovation the key drive and focus in all improvement initiatives.
• Develop best practices for all aspects of KM portfolio and document the processes
accordingly.
• Set annual key performance indicators (KPIs) for each KM function that contribute
towards organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
• Train and retain a high performing KM team.
• Champion the use of KM tools and resources.
• Other related work as assigned.
Knowledge
• Work closely with practice group heads and partners to understand their KM needs and
take steps to bridge the KM gap.
• Conceive, develop and implement the firm’s KM strategy.
• Understand the firm’s business, identify profitable client work and how KM can contribute
to the service delivery.
• Identify lawyers with knowledge in specific areas which are critical to building the
knowledge base for the firm. Enroll them into the process of managing that knowledge.
• Identify precedent-worthy work products, understand the context in which they were
originally used and convert them to precedents for future re-use.
• Consistently seek updated knowledge to allow practice groups work more efficiently.
• Create, develop and manage templates, precedents and research materials.
• Develop a system to populate and maintain a legal database.
• Develop a system to capture, analyse, filter, store and disseminate relevant information
to the legal team.
• Monitor changes in existing applicable laws and regulations and the development of new
laws and regulations; and other relevant information.
• Set up technology enablers for KM and continuously monitor new and innovative KM
systems and research tools in the market. Evaluate and make recommendations.
• Collate and disseminate useful information (such as developments in applicable statutes
and regulations, judicial decisions, etc) to the legal team.
• Collate legal updates from relevant government institutions and process approved
updates for weekly circulation to the legal and Business Development teams. The latter
will circulate the legal updates to the clients in a firm-approved client format with the goal
of sharing our firm’s knowledge on the latest development of the law and at the same time
educating clients.
• Support and advise lawyers with their legal research.
• Review and/or draft legal documents such as templates, boilerplates and precedents.
• Set up a sharing platform to facilitate exchange of ideas, information, templates, work
products and precedents among practice groups.
• Work with the Technology Team to ensure all known security risks to the electronic
database are appropriately addressed.
• Facilitate the capture of learning after completion of significant projects and how to apply
those learnings into KM.
• Stay abreast of legal developments and industries at all times.
• Identify and share information on market trends and development with Business
Development.
• Inculcate a knowledge sharing culture.
• Promote awareness on the importance and principles of knowledge management
including concepts and methodologies.
• Conduct relevant knowledge transfer meetings and trainings, as appropriate, to the legal
team.
• Ensure lawyers are well-versed with KM processes and the use of knowledge-based
systems.
• Carry out KM induction trainings.

Library
• Lead and manage the Library team to build and maintain a law library with a creditable
collection of law books, journals, magazines, periodicals and other legal resources.
• Assist non-legally trained librarians by recommending the purchase of legal journals,
magazines and books; and identifying outdated legal materials for disposal.
Documentation
• Lead and manage the Documentation team to efficiently deliver documentation services
which include file opening, file maintenance, file retrieval, file closing, file retention, and
file destruction.

Requirements

Education
• Holds a minimum undergraduate degree in law from a recognized university.
• Other academic qualifications in related fields and/or English would be an added
advantage.
Experience
• At least 4-5 years of legal work experience in a law firm or an in-house position.
• At least 1-2 years of working experience in Knowledge in a mid to senior capacity.

Key Requisites
• Good command of spoken and written English and Khmer.

• Is curious and proactive.
