Part B. Vehicles UNECE CoC
• "4.4.2.1 Vehicle chassis and construction: Long distance
commuting buses must have:
• a) A robust steel cage type of body construction to increase body
strength and ensure a survivable space for passengers in the event of a
roll over. Such construction shall comply with international standards –
UN/ECER66-01, for new in contract UN/ECER66-02, and UN/ECE R107.
• c) Rollover stability control complying with international standards
UN/ECE R13, for all buses first time registered in contract after this
standard is in force.
• d) Approval with the prevention of the fire risk according to
international standards UN/ECE R34, for all buses first time registered in
contract after this standard is in force. h)
The manufacturer must confirm in writing the compliance of
the bus to the required UN/ECE standards above with Type
approval/Certificate of Conformity for parts or whole vehicle.
• e) Two spare tyres with the same standard under u), and
manufacturer and type as already fitted on the bus."
Part B. Vehicle Standards
UNECE CoC
• "4.5.21. All heavy vehicles shall have rear underrun protection
placed as per the following:All heavy vehicles must have side
underrun protection to comply with UN/ECE R73, and rear
underrun protection to comply with UN/ECE R58."
• "4.5.23. Approval of the vehicle with regards to the protection of
the occupants of the cab – UN/ECE R29, for all vehicles first time
registered in the contract after this standard is in force."
• "4.5.24. Vehicle stability function and rollover control – UN/ECE
R13 for all vehicles first time registered in the contract after this
standard is in force.“
• "4.5.25. Approval of vehicle with regards to the prevention of fire
risk – UN/ECE R34 for all for all vehicles first time registered in the
contract after this standard is in force."
Fatigue/Distraction

• "4.2.7.17. All vehicles shall be
equipped with drivers’ fatigue
management system.“

Part B. Tyre Pressure


Monitoring System
• "4.2.8.22. Tyre pressure shall be in line with
vehicle manufacturer. For the assurance that tyre is with
adequate pressure, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
(TPMS) must be installed:
a) As minimum on steering axle tyres for prime movers
articualted with semi-trailers, including all vehicles
above 3.5 t shall have as a minimum TPMS on their
steering axles (inclusive of LGV, HGVs or heavy truck
rigid)
b) For all tyres on buses (heavy and light)TPMS shall
have activate visual and audible alarm to the driver
that the pressure and/or temperature in the tyre has
change and need to be checked (system to be reset
before the alarm is cancelled).
TPMS must be integrated with IVMS to enable distance
monitoirng of tyre pressure and temperature.
Implementation for vehicles under a), and b) shall not exceed
12 months form implementation of this standard. All other
vehicles shall have TPMS from 31st December 2024."

Part B. Tyres for HVs

• "4.2.8.23 Steering axle tyres on HGVs, Prime


Movers, Tankers and Tractor units, and all position for
Buses shall be manufactured to the recognized
international tyre standard: 'UN ECE Regulation 54 -
Uniform Provisions Concerning the Approval of
Pneumatic Tyres for Commercial Vehicles and their
Trailers', and Federal Motor Vehicles Safety
Specifications (FMVSS) Standard No 119, and GSO
(GCC Standardization Organization). All Tyres shall be
specified and rated to deal with the expected load,
temperatures and speeds anticipated during normal
operations in the Sultanate of Oman.
• Tyre manufacturer or approved representative in
Oman must provide Type Approval Certificate for
meeting UNECE (E-mark) and FMVSS with DOT-
approval (12-digit DOT Code))."
