Subtraction- to take away from a group or a number of things.

it is the
opposite of addition.

Parts of Subtraction
Minuend -the number in a subtraction sentence from which we subtract
another number
Subtrahend- the number being subtracted from another.
Difference – Answer

Example: The difference of 94 and 30 is 64


Number sentence 94-30=n
Solution 94-30=64

Multiplication- is a continous addition.

Parts of Multiplication
Multiplicand and Multiplier- also called the factors.
When we multiply the factors the answer is we called Product.

Properties of Multiplication

Commutative Property- The order of the factors does not affect the
product.

Example 1: Example 2:
3x5=5x3 2x3=3x2
15=15 6=6

Identity Property- any number that you multiply into 1 the answer is still
the number.

Examples:
2x1=2
3x1=3
4x1=4
5x1=5
Zero Property- Any number that you multiply into 0 the answer is always
be 0. Zero always win.

Examples:
3x0=0
5x0=0
4x0=0

In multiplying a number we can use the NUMBER LINE, SKIP


COUNTING , USING TABLE OF VALUES.
