    At a hairdresser’s

    C: Hello.

    H: Hello, can I help you?

    C: Yes, I’d like a haircut please.

    H: Right, do you have an appointment?

    C: No.

    H: I see, hm .. I can do you now, this way.

    C: Thank you.

    H: So, how would you like your hair cut?

    C: Not too short,

    H: Aha

    C: but not too long.

    H: I see. Do you want a wash?

    C: No thanks, just a cut.

    H: Right. The scissors.

    H: So, are you working today?

    C: No, not today. It’s my day off.

    H: Oh, very good.

    C: Hmmm. So, are you busy today?

    H: Ah yeah – no, no not really.

    H: Okay, that’s it, all finished.

    C: What?

    H: How’s that, do you like it?

    C: But ...

    H: Not too short, not too long.

    C: But … That’s fine. How much do I owe you?

    H: That’s – sixty pounds please.

    C: Sixty – but you – I – you didn’t –

    H: Thank you sir. Do you want anything else on it, any hairspray, gel?

    In a clothes shop

    S: So, what do you think?

    SA: Mm, it’s interesting. I – I like the, um –

    W: You look ridiculous, take it off. Try this one.

    SA: Mm, I like the colour.

    W: Mm, the colour’s okay, but it’s too small. Have you got this in a larger size?

    SA: Ah – we’ve got this one.

    W: Mm. Try it on.

    SA: That’s nice.

    W: It’s no good, it’s too big.

    S: How about this one?

    W: Oh yes, I like that. It suits you.

    S: What do you think?

    W: Not too big, not too small. It’s perfect. You look nice. We’ll take this one please.

    SA: Oh great. How would you like to pay?
