DOWNLOAD THIS DOCUMENT, DO NOT FILL IT IN ON TEAMS!!

You are required to complete both sections on this sheet and place the content in your Weebly section called UNIT 10

Wherever you use a quote from any other source, please say where you got it from or it could result in a PLAGIARISM
mark which would automatically fail the unit.

Reflect on how your work fits your audience (U10:LO3_AC3.1)

Please answer ALL boxes in order to pass this section. You can include screen grabs and links to help. This section is about
evaluating how your work fits the audience you have chosen to target. Answer all three questions fully with supporting
images, links and evidence of audience/survey feedback.

Choose THREE existing professional versions aimed at the same audience/genre as your work. How does yours compare to them? BE
SPECIFIC.

Something your NEWS UPDATE does as well

My video makes good use of clear transitions in between clips, giving each story some separation,
which in turn makes the video flow smoother.

Something the PROFESSIONAL EXAMPLE does better

The presenter engagement on the example video is vastly above my own, as the amount of time the presenter is shown
onscreen. His verbal presentation and body language give a very engaging feel and the whole video feels more natural than
something completely script based, even if the example video is.
How you would improve yours based on this
I would have probably re-recorded myself for both audio and video, ensuring that I speak clearer, be more confident in how I
was presenting, and make sure I stayed making eye contact with the camera and gave some more
‘fun’ energy to the camera.

Example 2 of 3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xej0Uzz0140 – The Biggest Game Releases of 2023 (IGN)

Something your NEWS UPDATE does as well

The topic of game releases in my video is covered fairly substantially for the length of the video, so it feels less of a passing
thought and more of a key point for the video.

Something the PROFESSIONAL EXAMPLE does better

The length and detail of which the professional example goes into regarding the game releases is vastly better than my own

How you would improve yours based on this

Covering more important information about the sections I spoke about, with things like quotes, statisitics, release dates etc..
would’ve given those sections a better feel.
Example 3 of 3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zwkh_vKmjvg

Something your NEWS UPDATE does as well

For each section I explain a bit about the story as opposed to leaving it as simple as the title, with things like on the winter spli
section, I gave info on who was where in the current standings.

Something the PROFESSIONAL EXAMPLE does better

The content covered in the clip is not only well written, spoken and enjoyable, but it also maintains a good structure and flow,
and almost feels like a conversation or a story as opposed to something like a video format.
How you would improve yours based on this
I would’ve tried to have a much more personal feeling in the way I presented myself and spoke, as opposed to keeping myself
off screen for the whole duration bar the start and ending.

Results and reflection of your survey

Show evidence of your audience feedback and reflect on what it tells you.
Show evidence of your survey results here (screen grabs/graphs/urls/Youtube comments/other)
What patterns or trends did you notice from your audience feedback?
As those who gave the responses to the form are those I know have interest in the topic, the trend seemed to be that they
appreciated and enjoyed the variety of topics, and that they would agree in that I was able to aim towards my target audience.
What did you learn from thinking about this?
I learnt that my camera presence isn’t that good and needs to be worked on, and that my audio editing skills need to be
worked on.
How might you make improvements to your work based on what you’ve learnt from your audience? Be specific
From what I’ve learnt and the responses I’ve received, I would’ve re-recorded both my audio and video, and re arranged the
video to give myself more time on screen. The lack of confidence in my speech and when I’m on screen is clear

Conclusions on your audience feedback

Based on what you’ve learnt above, write about whether your feel your work is fit for your specific audience overall.
Remember to say why and prove it
I feel as though that my video did fit to the target audience, but more of a wider range than very specific groups. The amount
covered in my game releases section was of those games very relevant and hyped up at the moment, so that fits in to the goal
of aiming for the audience. As with the League Of Legends section, it is covered in the most detail, and at the time of the
creation the LEC was one of the biggest gaming events being shown, and that short but informative section to me,
is a good way of attracting the audience I set out to.

Reflect on your own skills, processes and personal development (U10:LO3_AC3.2)

Please answer ALL sections fully in order to pass this section. You can include screen grabs and links to help. This section is
about how you feel your creative abilities and processes have improved during this assignment. Answer all sections fully
with supporting images (including your own screen grabs) and any other evidence you feel is relevant

Talk about three issues you had during production. These could be based on practical parts of the work, supporting tasks
such as research or even audience surveys.

1. One of the big issues I faced was using After Effects to give some sort of creative feel to my video

2. Balancing and editing the audio for both myself, background audio and the audio from clips

3. Script writing and AV work, as I wasn’t aware of how much to write, what to write and how to make it work

How/to what degree were you able to resolve each issue?

After messing around with the software, trial and error, I managed to create effective but not difficult transitions,
1.
that were easy to look at, but also long enough to cover any jump cuts in the video
I was able to just about fix my own personal audio, but realised that having both background music and audio
2. clips would clash, so I opted to remove the audio from the clips added, and relied on the background music,
which I found worked much better
Eventually after watching a few other videos on similar topics and seeing how they format it, I was able to get a
3.
script together that held enough information, wasn’t overly long and made sense.

Write about at least three things which well during the whole process?
Talk about what you felt went particularly well about them.
When adding the transitions and graphics, the video started to feel as though it was really coming together and
1.
built up, giving me a product I was happy with.
Despite issues with my own audio, it all ended up working timing wise and managed to flow properly without too
2.
much hassle.

3. With the actual clips for the video, I managed to get all good clips, good durations and those clips managed
And finally, write a small amount about what you enjoyed about the project which you could possibly use in future work
or assignments. This could be from research, design or your practical production process. Feel free to use screen grabs.
Having the freedom to create a video based solely on what I myself had interest in, and the short length of the video
worked in my favour as it gave me the chance and to rely more on editing skills as opposed to strict camera work. The
skills I got from using After Effects are going to be applicable elsewhere, and not only are they good skills but I have been
able to get a proper understanding of the software.
