by
Delvyn C. Case, Jr.

(As play begins, PUPPET 1 enters stage. PUPPET 1

is heartily eating piece of candy. PUPPET 2 enters behind
PUPPET 1 and tries to see what PUPPET 1 is doing)

PUPPET 1
What'ca you doing?

(PUPPET 1 turns further away to hide candy and chews)

PUPPET 2
Nothing.

(PUPPET 1 hides candy and chews)

PUPPET 2 (cont'd)
Sounds like chewing.

PUPPET 1
(muffled because mouth is full)
I'm not.

(PUPPET 2 crosses to front of PUPPET 1)

PUPPET 2
(pointing toward piece of candy)
It's...

PUPPET 1
Candy. (with an edge) And you can't have any.

PUPPET 2
Where'd you get it? Why can't I have any?

PUPPET 1
(pointing to the gift bags)
From the bags. (hugging candy) 'Cause it's mine.

PUPPET 2
Even a little, itsy-bitsy piece?

PUPPET 1
(abruptly)
No!

PUPPET 2
Why not?

PUPPET 1
I don't want to.

PUPPET 2
Sharing's part of being a Christian.

PUPPET 1
I'm a Christian. I believe in Jesus.

PUPPET 2
Then you believe in what He did. Then you want to do what He did.

PUPPET 1
Like?

PUPPET 2
Loving others. Helping others.

PUPPET 1
Sharing with others?

PUPPET 2
He shared everything He had, even His life. He gave His life for us on the cross.

PUPPET 1
I know that. (looking at candy) I could at least share my candy with if I'm a Christian.

(PUPPET 1 gives candy to PUPPET 2)

PUPPET 2
You didn't have to give it all to me.

PUPPET 1
Jesus did.

PUPPET
(pointing to bags of candy)
Then we should share the rest of the candy with the kids who are here at the party.

(PUPPET 1 nods in agreement)

PUPPET 2 (cont'd)
(pointing to volunteers handing out candy)
Kids, our friends have bags of candy for each of you before you leave.

PUPPET 1
We hope you've had a great time tonight.

PUPPET 2

Good night. Good-bye.

(PUPPET 1 and PUPPET 2 wave to the audience.

PUPPET 1 and PUPPET 2 exit off stage)
