- Think about the waste products that can be found at home, in school, and in the
4.1-Activity community.
- How will you know that waste is biodegradable? Non-biodegradable? Hazardous?
- What are the practices that you do?

4.3-Analysis - How can you lessen the amount of biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and hazardous
waste at home? In school? In the community?

Identify and separate wastes

- Wastes could be classified as biodegradable, non- biodegradable, and hazardous wastes.

➢Biodegradable are wastes that can decompose or destroy by bacteria or living

organism.

Examples:
Animal and human wastes (manure), dry leaves/twigs, kitchen scraps,
vegetables scraps, dead animals, paper, old magazines, wood, etc.

 ➢Non-biodegradable are those wastes that cannot be destroyed by any means

 even if they are burned.
Abstraction 
(5 minutes)  Examples:
 Rubber, metals, plastic bottles, tin cans, broken glasses, needle, electronic
 parts, empty sachets, cellophane, etc.

 and animals.

 Examples:
 Expired medicines, chemical wastes, used batteries, used fluorescent bulbs,

3. __________ Hazardous waste must be dispose properly.
4. __________ Broken glass is an example of biodegradable waste.
5. __________ Hazardous wastes are not dangerous wastes that are harmful to people, plants, and animals.
