Q2: Based on the scenario these the insufficient communication, and

indicators of a negative health and safety culture at SC.


1- The WS site manager arranges a site meeting. Both contractor
invited to attend, but the SC representative is absent. Absenteeism,
this is one of the negative indicators of a negative health and safety
culture at SC.
2- The SC do not have membership of any professional or trade bodies,
and they are reluctant to provide further health and safety
information, and risk assessments. This represent weak of safety
management structure that indicate of a negative health and safety
culture.
3- The SC provide risk assessments four years previously. This is lack of
interest in health and safety and it is low priority for them and
consider as a negative culture.
4- The SC workers arrives on site at 16:30, and the WS site manager
explains that vehicles can only access the loading bay until 16:00, and
this poor compliance indicate to negative health and safety culture.
5- The SC workers arrives late when unload the materials, they find that
the vehicle access gate is locked, this because of lack of health and
safety communication leads to negative culture.
6- The SC workers drive to the front of the building, and it must only be
through the loading bay and storeroom. This poor cooperation lead
to negative culture.
7- The SC workers unload a large sheet of wood, and this require two
persons to lift. The SC should provide enough workers at work place
to prevent negative health and safety culture.
8- The trainee has not yet had manual handling training, but the
experienced worker says ‘You don’t need training to pick things up’.
It means that they did not compliance with safety rules that lead to
negative culture.
9- The experienced worker walks while pulling the wooden sheet
backwards, so does not see the roller on the floor, and they fall over
the roller and hit their head on the floor. They must ensure that work
conditions are safe to prevent this negative culture.
10- The trainee worker was not know what to do. The TL
representative asks about the accident the trainee explains that
they have not received any general health and safety, so they did
not prioritize the health and safety and the lead to this negative
culture.
