CHAPTER FIVE

5.0 SUMMARY OF FINDINGS CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS

5.1Introduction

This chapter presents discussions of findings, summary, conclusion. Recommendation


Suggestions for further research. This study was carried out to investigate the effects of primary
education on performance of early childhood development in Kapsaret primary
ECDE, Uasin Gishu County.
5.2 SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
5.2.1 Bio Data Information of the respondent
The demographic characteristics of respondents were ought in the study to establi21 the
characteristics participants. The demographic analyse were gender, marital status are and level of
education of the respondents The study sought to determine the effect of free primary education
on academic performance in ECDF: children
5.2.2 Gender of respondents

The gender of the respondents was sought in the study in order to determined gender
distribution in the study. This was analyzed and presented in in the figure 4.1 above. It was
evident from the findings that the greater percentage of the respondents were female with 54%
from the results, It was clear that the variation in the number of -male and female was not so
large to bias in the data that was collected from different genders of the respondents .

5.2.3 Respondents in Relation to their age

According to the findings ,majority part of respondents 35% was in the age bracket of 36-45
years while a significant 28% were between 26-35 years as well as another 15% were between
20-25 years . Those who were above 45 years comprise of 23%. The results revealed that
regardless of the different age groups the researcher was able to collect different opinions from
different age groups
5.2.4 Period worked in teaching

These showed the majority of the respondents who have stayed in teaching for over 5 years was
36% of the whole sample i.e 29% have stayed for a duration of 3-4 years , 16% have stayed for
a period between 2-3 years ,12% have stayed for a period between 1-2 years and 7% of the
respondents have stayed .teaching less than one year

5.2.5 How does early socialization affect performance

According to the study in Kabsabet zone ,early socialization is caused by parents instilling fear in
their children by learning them and also corporal punishment . this will lead to poor performance
and children will also fear to socialize with others . many parents engage in casual labor and
subsistence farming for survival with this low level of literacy many of the parents are not aware
of good parenting practices for their children leading to poor performance

Teacher participating in early socialization according for the study teacher offer guidance and
counseling to those children that socialize early so that their dreams teachers also awards
students who socialize in a good way like helping each other to doing heir work and also who
help other to correct their mistake

Teachers also tells children the effect of early socialization and what can lead to it like early drop
out in school, children not coming to school early and truancy with some pupils . as teachers we
should be emphasis on the effects of early socialization that leads to school drop-outs

Out of a total of 60 children is ECDE centre is children exceed expectation thus performing well
making 25% of the total. out of a total of 60 respondents in 15 ECDE centre children meet
expectation making 17% which is the lowest. Out of a total of 60 children in an ECDE centre.
20 children are above average making 33% which is the highest number of performance .out of a
total of 60 children in 15 ECDE centre 15 children are below average which teacher are suppose
to put more effects and remedial to push children up to above average

According to the finding majority of children in ECDE centre are above average making a 33%
percent out of 100% which is a good number. the below average children which make a 25% of
the performance . Children are encourage to work hard and at 33% that is above average
5.3 Conclusion

The -researcher the ECDE centre in Kapseret Primary discriminated when it comes to gender,
culture, origin, social status and religious beliefs. Also lack of enough facilities was a big
challenge to the children learning condition the community should assist teachers by providing
the materials that can promote their children education and holistic growth. The burden of
employing ECDE teachers is left to the parents who are not capable to pay.

5.4 Recommendation

Basing generalization on the finding of the study, the researcher recommends that, the
government to government to employ ,nursery school teacher so that they can take care of rising
enrolments in ECDE in centre, thus reducing the teachers pupil ratio

The government to adopt a cost sharing policy with parents in the provision of parents in the
provision of resource in FCDE in .this will I turn ease the burden poor parents are currently
expressed
