This chapter presents the background of the study, statement of the problem,

scope and limitation, significance of the study and definition of terms.

Background of the Study

Accountancy Business and Management (ABM) is one of the senior high

school academic strands, which focuses on the basic concepts of financial

management, business management, corporate operations, and all things that

are accounted for. Numerous classes in the ABM strand are designed to support

ABM students in pursuing their ideal careers. But, based on how complex the

lectures are getting, it appears that the accounting class is the most challenging.
The majority of Aurora Pioneers Memorial College's ABM students were

less committed and secure in their ability to succeed in accounting class than

students in other classes, according to the researchers' observations.

This study is anchored by Theory of Challenge and Support. According to

Evans (2010), if the challenge is too great and the student is not ready for the

challenge, a student may go into a state of retreat, where they cease to develop

and pull away from the challenge. Additionally, students grow or develop through

experiencing internal or external challenges.

We decided to research this subject because we're interested in learning

more about the difficulties ABM students have in accounting classes. ABM is

perceived by many as being quite challenging. Though challenging, it is not

difficult. It concentrates on jobs such as an accountant, director of sales, tax

manager, marketing manager, human resource manager, and many others.

Statement of the Problem

The study aimed to determine the ABM students challenges towards

accounting class at Aurora Pioneers Memorial College School Year 2022-2023.

More specifically, it sought to provide answers to the following questions:

1. What are the challenges experienced by ABM students towards

accounting class?

2. What are the effects of these challenges on ABM students towards

accounting class?

3. How did the ABM students handle the difficulties in the accounting class?
Significance of the Study

The result of this study may be beneficial to the ABM students, future ABM

students, accountancy teacher, and future researchers.

ABM students. Results of this study would valuable to ABM students so

that they may be aware of the benefits of accountancy class.

Future ABM students. The results of this study may provide information of

what is the accountancy class all about.

Accountancy teacher. The results of this study may provide awareness of

the perspective of ABM students on accountancy class.

Future Researchers. This study may also draw interest from other

researchers who intent to conduct more investigations about the views and

challenges of ABM students on accountancy class.

Scope and Limitation of the Study

The researchers limit this study on the ABM students challenges towards

accounting class at Aurora Pioneers Memorial College School Year 2022-2023.

This study’s participants will be the ABM students at Aurora Pioneers

Memorial College. The researchers will perform the study by interviewing random

students in the said area and distributing survey and reference questionnaires to

the ABM students.

Definition of Terms
This section of the chapter deals with the definition of terms often

mentioned in the paper. The following were operationally defined to have a

clearer understanding of the study:

Accountancy Business and Management (ABM) – refers to the academic

strand that focuses on the basic concepts of financial management, business

management, corporate operations, and all things that are accounted for.

ABM Students – refer to the group of people who studies Accountancy

Business and Management (ABM) strand.

Challenges - is too great and the student is not ready for the challenge, a

student may go into a state of retreat, where they cease to develop and pull away

from the challenge.

Accounting class – is defined as the discussion of the accounting

principles and guidelines that govern financial reporting.
