STREET DANCE
➢ An informal style of dance involving a
variety of moves, which is popular
with young people and often
developed in public spaces such as
streets, clubs, playgrounds etc.
➢ Street dance is a broader concept,
and hip-hop dance falls under the
category.
HIP-HOP DANCE
➢ Described as nay form of dance derived
from popular music combined with
street dance and choreographs o dance
movement that jive with the beat.
➢ Hip-hop is very energetic and dancers
can move freely and can add their own
personalities into the dance.
HISTORY OF HIP-HOP DANCE
➢ Hip-hop dance began during the late
1960’s and early 1970’s, originally
inspired of African dancing, and
flourished as new style of dance
performed on the street for the people.
Hip-hop incorporates aspects of modern
aspects of modern dance, tap and swing,
integrating music and complex
movements to form artistry.
➢ The hip hop dance truly look form in the
Philippines when early 80’s TV dance
shows introduced popping and locking
through young Filipino American (or
balikbayan.
HIP-HOP CULTURE
➢ Hip hop culture is characterized by
four key elements: rapping, DJing
and turntablism, breakdancing, and
graffiti.
