I. Objective
At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:
 identify the name of each picture;
 give the beginning letter of each picture; and
 recognize the importance of giving the beginning letter of every word.

1. Show three pictures to the learners with their English names.

A. Activity
“Raise Your Flags!”
1. Provide two different colors of flags to the learners: red and blue.

2. Show ten pictures including the names of the pictures without


their beginning letter.

3. Present letters written in red or blue colored circle that will serve
as the choices to complete the name of the picture.

4. Learners will raise the appropriate color of flag based on the


choices given to complete the name of the picture.

B. Analysis
Ask the learners the following questions:
1. Do all the names of the pictures have the same beginning letter?
2. Do you remember the beginning letters of the pictures’ names?
3. What are the beginning letters of the pictures’ names?

C. Abstraction
The beginning letter of every word, such as the names of animals,
people, food, places or etc. are always found at the beginning letter of the
word.

Examples:

The word dog, the beginning letter is d


because letter d is found at the beginning of the
word.

The word sun, the beginning letter is s


because letter s is found at the beginning of the
word.

The word egg, the beginning letter is e because


letter e is found at the beginning of the word.

D. Application
“What Am I?”
1. Divide the learners into five groups.
2. Show three pictures to each group.
