Santa Fe, Nueva Vizcaya
Despite limited teacher and student face to face interaction brought about by the pandemic,
DepEd came up with ways and means to make sure that no students will be left behind which
is the Bridging Program that will help students cope in the new normal education. “The
program will be done to ensure the students are prepared to enter the next grade level since
the mastery was compromised due to the suspension of classes because of extracurricular
activities and recently, COVID-19,” said Division Information Officer, Grace Estefano.
In response to this, Santa Fe National High School specifically the Grade 7 advisers and
subject teachers with the approval of Mr. Ronaldo G. James, School Head, conducted a 2-day
Intervention and Remediation Activities as part of school’s Brigada Pagbasa Program to the
identified learners who are having difficulties in MAPEH and English mostly coming from
the different Barangays of Santa Fe, Nueva Vizcaya. The 2-day activity will help the teachers
assess the students’ current standing in terms of their academic performance. This will then
give way to a more effective and efficient conduct of Remediation and Intervention Activities
in the future.
In harmony with the aim of the DepEd’s Bridging Program, the School similarly aims to
address the following:
Gage students’ current levels particularly in Reading and Solving Problem through
the use of reading materials and learning activity sheets;
Assist students accordingly by giving them activities focused on Reading and
Problem Solving aligned with their academic needs to improve their academic
performance; and
Reduce number of students who are identified as SARDOS (Students At Risk of
Dropping Out).
In giving the remediation and intervention activities, the target students are those who are
having difficulty in the different subject areas as reflected in their grades. Among the ____
Grade 7 students of Santa Fe National High School, a total of 48 learners were identified by
the advisers per advisory class.
Since the activity is only for 2 days, it was decided that the activities will focus on reading
and solving problem. For the reading activities, materials were Phil-Iri based. The language
teachers adopted materials from the Phil-Iri using the rating sheets to gage students’ fluency
of the language followed by comprehension questions to gage accuracy. As for the solving
problem, Learning Activity Sheets (LAS) and modules were used to first check students’
knowledge of the topic. To further help students, different subjects were also reviewed like
their Science, MAPEH, and Filipino modules.
During the conduct of the program, the following were issues and concerned encountered:
For a more effective conduct of the Intervention and Remediation Activities in the future, the
Grade 7 advisers and subject teachers wish to recommend the following:
All Grade 7 learners of SFNHS should participate in the activity with their parents or
guardians
1 day allotment for the conduct of remediation per barangay or more be allowed if
deemed necessary
All advisers and subject teachers of Grade 7 should participate during the conduct of
the remediation
Letters should be properly disseminated to the Brgy. Officials, parents, and students
concerned to ensure a 100% attendance
