LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL

I. PROGRAM TITLE: Project LEABERS HOME( LEArners and numBERS

Hang Out moMEnts )

II. BACKGROUND/RATIONALE

Due to global outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic many challenges have created in

the lives of people all over the world. Social distancing and restrictive movement policies

have brought many changes in the traditional educational practices which resulted for the

schools to discontinue face to face classes to make way for safer learning amidst the

pandemic. Different learning modalities in delivering lessons to learners without risking their

health have been implemented, as presented during the first South East Asian Ministers of

Education Organization (SEAMEO) e-Forum by Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones along

with other Southeast Asian Education Ministers. These methods are designed to ensure

continuation

of learning even without physical classes, but it also introduced new hardships to both

teachers and learners.

In most of the learning delivery modalities implemented, mainly modular distance

learning, learners stay at home to study on their own, with minimal interaction and direct

supervision from their teacher.


Mathematics, a settling part of one’s educational journey and an effective tool for

developing logical thinking and mental discipline, is also a subject many students be apt to

have difficulties in, even in normal learning settings. Due to the two years physical absence

Project LEABERS HOME( LEArners and numBERS Hang Out moMEnts ) is a

learning development project that intends to help cater the present problem on educational

system by stretching the available instructions and accessibility of learning materials. The

prime element of the project involves visits to local learning centers and personally

conducting presentations and discussions, and creating video presentations, along with

abundant measures of providing resources to students. The proponent hopes to reinforce

learning regardless of the many challenges brought by the pandemic.

I. OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

a. General Objectives

Project LEABERS HOME aims to provide the necessary assistance to Grade 10


learners of Santa Fe National High School experiencing difficulties in coping up with their
Mathematics lessons and troubled in accomplishing their tasks due to the two years absence
of
physical classes. Considering this, as the aim of this project peer tutoring for the learners will
help them to adapt the education in the new normal, and in the process increase the learners’
overall mathematical proficiency.

b. Specific Objectives

Specifically, the program aims to:

1. help learners understand topics they find difficult by providing answers to their

queries and clarifying instructions when needed;

2. improve the learners’ academic performance in Mathematics; and


3. uphold strong partnership and camaraderie with their friends and classmates.

IV. PROJECT DESCRIPTION, INTERVENTION, METHOD AND STRATEGIES

Project LEABERS HOME is a development project that aims to reinforce

mathematical learning among Grade 10 learners of Santa Fe National High School while

facing the difficulties brought by the two years nonattendance of face to face classes. It will

be a joint effort by the proponent and the students involved.

Presentations will be created along with printed activity sheets to be answered at the

end of each session. The proponent will then tutor and orient learners who excels numerically

to serve as students tutors. The proponent with the tutors will then meet the learners who

have mathematical straggles and discuss the topics especially the four fundamental operations

of real numbers. Safety health protocols will also be properly observed during the conduct of

the visits.

The project hopes to give learners the assistance they need during this crisis, so as to

improve their Mathematics performance and accomplish their learning activities and

performance tasks.

V. BUDGETARY REQUIREMENTS

Project MAYLES shall be carried out using a donation from the stakeholders who

are willing to help in the realization of this project.

VII. MONITORING AND EVALUATION

The School Research and Development Projects Committee spearheaded by the

school principal shall carefully scrutinize, monitor, evaluate and review the proposal before it

will be submitted to District of Santa Fe the approval of the implementation of the project.

After receiving the approved permit from the District Research and Development Projects

Committee, and in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Santa Fe and other

stakeholders shall be considered and given recognition.

The project will be monitored by the department head of the mathematics department

using Project METRO (Monitor, Evaluate Innovative and Strategies and extend Technical

Assistance and award Recognition for best Learning Outcome in the new normal)
