Lesson 10

Gideon

Open with prayer.

Introduce and show the Gideon video. Gideon was the 6th judge over Israel. The video we used
was of the first vintage videos. It was produced by Moody. There is no motion, only as series of
still shots, with an audio description. The kids completely focused on this new and completely
different type of presentation. This type of presentation is only good once a year preserving its
novelty and boosting our learning experience.

Bible reading:

Judges Ch 7. Battle with the Midianites. (Who were the Midianites? After Sarah died, Abraham
took on married another woman, and children, one of whom was named Midian 750 years ago].
From these descendents, first we met the wife, Zipporah (Exodus 2:21), of Moses [250 years
ago], and now this conflict.) The Midianites had settled near the upper end of the Red Sea and to
the NE of Egypt.

This reading takes 5 minutes.

Feel free to add, shorten or change this reading which may be necessary based on the length and
content of the Bible video you use, if indeed you can find a Gideon video. But keep in mind that
the suggested verses in this section and all following sections may need to be lengthened or
shortened based on available class time.
