Duolingo is the world's largest online language learning platform.

learning more fun and effective, as well as being completely free.
Our mobile applications were recognized as the iPhone Application
of the Year for 2013 by Apple and the Best of the Best of Google Play for 2013 and 2014.

is developing specific tools for language teachers. Duolingo

feedback from teachers, administrators, teaching experts, professors,
parents and students; and we are creating more unique tools for

How does Duolingo work?
Duolingo turns language learning into a game to make it more fun
and cash. Students can learn for free while earning points
for answering correctly, practicing against the clock, and leveling up. Our
personalized and short lessons help students retain content
learned. An independent study* showed that using Duolingo for 34 hours is
comparable to a semester language class at the university level.

In just a few years Duolingo has become the most popular platform for
learn languages. Teachers, parents and students use the application and the
website at home and classrooms to make the learning experience more
fun and effective. We have decided that it is time to facilitate the integration of
Duolingo in classrooms through Duolingo for Schools.

Simple ideas for the classroom.

USE IT AS A PRIZE
For students who have done very well in class or if you need an activity for those students
who finish work very quickly.
USE IT AS A GAME
How about a race against the clock? Or a friendly team competition? Playing is an important
part of the learning process and a great motivator!
USE IT AS A REINFORCEMENT TOOL
If you have a student or an entire class struggling with a specific concept, like verbs, you can
assign them a Duolingo unit.
USE IT AS A WARM-UP
Take advantage of those 5 minutes that you usually lose at the beginning of the class so that
the students practice their skills.
LEAVE IT AS HOMEWORK
If your students have internet access outside of the classroom and like to spend time in front
of a screen, they can practice Duolingo for homework.
EXTRA POINTS
Not everyone has easy access to Duolingo from home. Why not reward those students who
practice in their spare time?
ACTIVITY DURING HOLIDAYS
Help your students not lose those skills and knowledge that cost so much during the holidays.
What do you think if you do a Virtual Class? Even the smallest goal can achieve great things!
