BOCA Facilitators’ Refresher Training

CONCEPT NOTE

1. Objectives:

- To refresh all BOCA Facilitators on the BOCA processes and be familiar with the new
BOCA Toolkit
- To connect MRCS Facilitators to BOCA Lab Hub
- To undertake the BOCA adaptation, contextualization and translation exercise on the
BOCA Guide for Facilitators and the BOCA Matrix

3. Participants: All existing BOCA Facilitators (as per list in Appendix A)

4. Venue: MRCS National Hqs, KL; Option - MRC Perak Hqs, Ipoh

5. Traveling & Accommodation:

a. Participants shall use the most economical means of travel, the cost of which shall
be covered by National Hqs
b. Accommodation shall be at the dormitories of National Hqs / MRC Perak Hqs
(Booking of dormitories – Action: Pn Norsiah)

6. Program & Training Design: As per Appendix B

7. Expected outcome:

- A team of Lead Facilitators in preparation for BOCA implementation at District levels;


- Facilitators would be assessed for suitability to be Lead Facilitators for inclusion in the
pool of international Facilitators based on performance in the District BOCA exercise,
including roles in completion of adaptation, contextualization and translation of
assignment given.
- Undertaking of assignment for adaptation, contextualization & translation of BOCA
Attachment Y & BOCA Matrix (Attachment Z Section 1)

8. Prior to BOCA Refresher Training:

- Facilitators are expected to visit https://fednet.ifrc.org/en/resources/policy-strategy-


and-knowledge/national-society-development/branch-organisational-capacity-
assessment/ to download all the resources of the new BOCA Toolkit

9. Resources required:

The following can be photocopied for use in the BOCA Refresher training
- Attachment X – BOCA Training of Facilitators (ToF) Step by Step Guide
- Attachment Y – Guide for BOCA Facilitators
- Attachment Z – BOCA Matrix & Explanatory Notes to BOCA Matrix

Note: Original BOCA Toolkit shall only be presented to Lead Facilitators when they
completed the BOCA Refresher training, commits to undertake the role of Lead Facilitators
for District BOCA implementation and complete the given assignments.

10. Budget

The following provision maybe required to cater for expenses connected with this BOCA
Refresher training:-

11. Terms of Reference

10.1 BOCA Trainer

- Overall training design & program of BOCA Refresher course

- Facilitate sessions in BOCA Refresher Course

- Organize work assignment on BOCA Matrix adaptation and contextualization and


translation

10.2 MRCS Nat Hqs (Focal Person: )


- Provide training & secretariat support
- Oversee logistical support
- Communication and liaison with BOCA Facilitators & APRO
- Secure training resources
- Secure Guest of Honor for Opening & Closing session
- Funding & Disbursements
- Actions as in Appendix C

10.3 MRCS BOCA Facilitators (Focal Person: )

- Commit to full attendance of BOCA Refresher course


- Commit to assist and complete work assignments on BOCA adaptation,
contextualization and translation
- Able to facilitate BOCA at District levels and support to other States
- Agree to be connected to the BOCA Lab Hub and be part of the international team of
BOCA trainers

Checklist for Organizing BOCA Refresher Training
