USING SELECTION TOOLS- Part 2

At the end of the lesson, you are expected to:
1. Describes the color palette,

3. Combines colors in an image.

1. On the Menu Bar click View and select Rulers.]
2. When the ruler appears, click the edge of the ruler until you see a
blue line.
3. Drag the line to your desired measurement.
4. Check the Snap command for the object to be pulled into the ruler
guide.

5. You may select various shades in the image or select the brush
diameter in the options bar.
Using Feather
The Feather setting makes the border of a portrait fades into the
surrounding edge.
1. On the Tools panel, click the Elliptical Marquee tool.
2. On the Options bar, change the Feather setting to 20 px.
3. On the Menu Bar, click Layer>Layer Mask>Reveal Selection
Using Crop
Cropping is where you cut out a portion of an image and edit it. To
crop an image, select the Crop tool at the Tools panel. The Crop tool will
let you choose a portion of your image to be cropped. Right click your
mouse on the area you want to crop and then select the Crop icon. You
can now paste the image from any image editing program.
You can change the size of your cropped image by dragging the
corner of the bounding lines and dragging it to your preferred size. You can
also move the area by clicking the middle circle in the area and drag to
move to the desired area.
Modifying a Marquee
Different objects with different sizes and colors are sometimes hard to
select. You may change the size or shape of a marquee if needed.
1. After making a marquee, on the Menu Bar click Select>Modify
2. Then choose the changes you want to make on the marquee
3. You can expand, contract or smoothen the marquee.

Moving a Marquee
You may want to move a marquee of an object and transfer it to
another location or image.
1. After making a marquee on an object, on the Options bar click
New Selection button
2. Click your mouse at the center of the marquee and drag it to the
new location.
Deselect a Selection
The selection command remains until you have deselected it.
1. On the Menu Bar, click Select>Deselect.

GENERALIZATION
Guides are lines to help you place your image or object in a specific
area. A guide will not be visible when you print your file.
The Healing tool makes the image’s imperfection disappear into the
surrounding image. This is like the stamp tool but it blends in the
surroundings of the image. The Healing tool is useful for digital photos from
a camera to remove stain or dirt.
Cropping is where you cut out a portion of an image and edit it. To crop
an image, select the Crop tool at the Tools panel. The Crop tool will let you
choose a portion of your image to be cropped.
APPLICATION

1. Open a picture in Photoshop
2. Use the healing tool to hide the imperfection observed in the picture.
