Ma’am Nenette Q.

Rafayla – Principal, Mactan Air Base Elementary

School, Department Heads, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff,
Parents, Students, ladies and gentlemen, good morning.

In this coming school year 2022 – 2023, we are very happy that
finally we are in transition to face to face classes. In the past, the
Department of Education has struggled with what appears to be a
lack of priority for education in the country, which is reflected in a
shortage of resources for public schools, a lack of classrooms,
overcrowded classrooms, and a lack of school prepared for the
coming school year. At the opening of the school, students and
teachers have to put up with an untidy classroom, blackboards on
which it is already too rough to write on, chairs with broken
armrests and other things that need repair, maintenance, and
cleaning. This affects the first day of classes, as teachers and
students are required to complete all assignments rather than
focusing on the first day of classes in the classroom. Thus the
Progam, Brigada Eskwela where the school partners with its parents
in order to prepare the facilities for the coming school year.

Brigada Eskwela is very important for school leaders, teachers, and

students or for the school community because it saves and secures
resources from the school. The tireless support and efforts of
various stakeholders have resulted in improvements to the school
facilities in preparation for the opening of classes and an improved
learning environment. Teachers can now begin classroom
instruction on the first day of school, and students can now focus on
their lessons without the distraction of cleaning the classroom
before school opens.

This year’s Brigada Eskwela’s theme, Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na

Balik-Aral, responds to the challenge of face to face classes in the
time of the pandemic. We are thankful that all agencies are in full
force to ensure that our students are back to normal as it has been
greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In closing, Let us join hands in the transition of face to face classes
with our students. Let us not be affected by the challenges and move
forward with the aim of a better and quality education for our
children.

Thank you and good morning.
