Standard Maintenance Procedure Doc:

for Modular Conveyors


1. Purpose:
The purpose of this document is to define a standard operating procedure, roles &
responsibilities while carrying out maintenance activity at modular Conveyors (PC-32 Peeler
Infeed) of PepsiCo Sundar Snacks Plant.
2. Scope:
This procedure is applicable to modular conveyors maintenance at PepsiCo Sundar Snacks
Plant.
3. Exclusion: Electrical Work, Hot Work
4. Hazards and Risks Involved:
Hand Injury, Foot Injury, Hand injury, Slip & Trip, Ergonomics, Pinch & entanglement hazard
5. Mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

Safety Shoes Cotton Gloves Safety Helmet Uniform Ear Plug Safety Harness Goggles

6. Role & Responsibility:

It is responsibility of execution lead to ensure that all safety precautions and steps should
be followed (Defined in section 5) before executing activity.

7. Procedure/Steps Involved:

1- Ensure to cut off the power supply before starting activity.


Power isolation will be carried out by applying 2 LOTO at
isolators (One by Operator and one by artisan) as per EHS
hazardous energy protocols.

2- LOTO accompanied by power isolation. After LOTO, remove top, bottom & backside
inspection hatches/covers for conveyor inspection using spanner

3- Check the conveyor slag or tension manually from opened inspection hatches

4- If slag or tension is observed adjust the conveyor through adjustment slots by


loosening or tightening through spanner.

5- In order to check the health of conveyor, sprockets, bottom strips & rods remove the
links connecting rod stopper pin with nose Plier. This will open the conveyor and it can
be easily glide down through drive driven and supporting sprockets. While inspecting
the bottom bed strips ensure to use 3P certified safety harness with double lanyard and
firm anchoring point.

6- After completing inspection put conveyor back on sprockets and pull it over drive,
driven and guide sprockets with 3P certified safety belt.

place and locking pin through nose plier accompanied by safety covers fixation

8- Perform lubrication and greasing of bearings through grease gun via grease nipple.

9- Check the gear box for seal leakage and oil quality check (Using L-key)

10-After close gear box remove LOTO and observe the behaviour in dry run

NOTE: All the electrical power tools, welding plants, welding cylinders, lifting equipment’s and
safety harness used must be 3P certified
