Statement of Purpose

Respected sir/ma’am,

I am Gurupdesh Kaur, a prospective student for Canada. I am a permanent resident of


Mohali, SAS Nagar, Punjab, India. Earlier, I had applied for Canada study permit for
further studies 2022 however, my application was refused with the below mentioned
reason-

• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.

Based on the above mentioned reason, I am taking this opportunity to justify the
reasons for my decline and again putting my application forward to pursue Post
Baccalaureate Diploma in Business Management program from Cape Breton
University for September 2022 intake.

My Qualification/Academic and Professional Record-

I have been consistent student in my education till date. I did my Matriculation in 2011
under Central Board of Secondary education and my Senior Secondary with 76%
(commerce stream) under Punjab School Education Board. Further I completed my
bachelor of Commerce in 2016 with first division from Punjabi University Patiala.

 After my bachelor degree, I started preparing for IELTS and in 2017 and 2018, I
submitted my application for Canada student visa for January, May and
September 2018 but my applications got declined.
 After that when I was again thinking of my application submission, unfortunately
in May 2019, I lost my Mother. That was the traumatic time, when I my elder
brother and father were shattered due to that loss.
 So I thought to give time to my family, after my mother so I postponed my plans
for further studies and joined Sunrise Power Technologies as Accountant in
October 2018.
 Till date I am working in the same organization at the same designation.

My purpose of visit -
My sole purpose of visit to Canada is to gain further studies at international level. My
objective of studying in Canada is to equip myself with advanced academic qualification
and practical knowledge in the field of Business Management. I am a genuine student
and have clear intentions to return to India after completion of my studies in Canada.
International education will boost my ways of thinking by experiencing different
cultures first-hand. Canada is a bilingual country, which makes studying in Canada an

excellent opportunity to develop my communication skills and boost my prospects for
an interesting career.

Language abilities:
For my current application, I have scored an overall band score of 6.5 in IELTS exam with
no band less than 6.0 in any of the modules (reading- 6.0, listening- 7.0, writing 6.5 and
speaking- 6.0). My IELTS score meets the admission requirement of the proposed
course offered by CBU and also I meeting the criteria to submit it under SDS category.

My level of establishment and financial status:


My family has good financial status and also my family has a good amount of savings in
State Bank of India which complements my level of establishment and stability in India.
My father is retired government employee and also getting family pension after demise
of my mother. My elder brother is self-employed. I am attaching the following
documents to depict the level of establishment and financial condition of my family.

 FDR accounts in the name of my father in State Bank of India with current total
amount of INR 10,50,000/- Lakhs approximately.
 Income Tax returns of my father.
 Net worth of my father with amount of INR 2,24,80,000/
 I have paid my one year of tuition fee to Cape Breton University for the first
year with CAD 16,740.00.
 Deposited CAD 10000.00 as GIC account in Simplii Financial.

Changes in circumstances in my current application –


As I have been working since 2018 so in my current application, I have professional
exposure of the relevant sector.

Why Business Management –


As I am working as Accountant since October 2018, so I find my career stagnated in
clerical scope only. To take the big leap to managerial level where I can work with more
autonomy and authority, I need to have a management degree under my belt. I believe
that I must complete my advanced managerial program from a renowned international
institution which is globally acclaimed for highest standards of teaching and offers
qualitative exposure to best practices in businesses management. Canada College is
ideally suited for my needs.

Being from the commerce background and also keeping in mind my ultimate interest
and also the career opportunities, I have opted to ally in business related course which
will be an additional advantage for me because I have gained commerce related skills in
my previous education and now my intended course will be a stepping stone in my
profile. I have chosen my intended course after my own in-depth research. Also I have
always been fascinated with economic developments took place in this recent decade.

From my intended course, I will gain skills like-


 A sound knowledge of general business management.
 Specialized instruction in the key functions of business management.
 Practical, business-ready skills in written communications, analysis and
interpersonal communications. 3
 These skills will assist me to get higher level management positions in small to
medium businesses.

On the top of all, 420 hours of Co-op, shall be an added advantage for me, which is an
integral part of my course curriculum.

Future Roadmap
Talking about my future plans, after the completion of my studies, I will come back to
my homeland and start my professional career. India being the 5th largest economy
has no shortage of jobs for rightful candidates. In addition to this, due to the rising
demand for skilled professionals in India This Program will equip me with essential
skill-sets to pursue my career at managerial position in different segments like in
finance, marketing, sales, digital marketing and majorly get the following job
opportunities in India like:-

Personal Finance Consultant: A Personal Finance Consultant advising clients on taxes,


retirement planning, investments, and insurance decisions, depending on their
financial goals.

Accounts Assistant: The responsibilities of an Accounts Assistant will be reconciling


finance accounts, maintaining spreadsheets, credit control, verifying calculations,
working with the Accounts system, reconciliation of direct debit mandates, managing
petty cash transactions etc.

Money Manager: The responsibilities of money managers include research and


finding companies, funds, industries where the managers can find investment, choose
and advise bonds, stocks, currencies, and other investment commodities for funds,
develop investment strategies for individuals and companies, analyzing past and
present financial data, strategy, policy, management of the companies, examine
industry trends and economic factors such as inflation, unemployment rates, etc. I
researched and learned that salaries for accounts managers are competitive,

average entry- level accounting manager salary starts from $39,680 CAD. To
summarize, in the short haul, I want to say that an International degree will make me
ready for a job by improving my skills. By enhancing the job skills, I can work more
effectively after the completion of my studies. I aspire to secure qualitative practical
and technical hands-on exposure in Canada as it plays host to myriad mainstream
financial institutions which leverage cutting-edge technologies for service delivery. In
the long run, I want to see myself in the position of top-tier executive for a large MNC
with global footprints.
