Discussing new What is a contingency We have here the Contingency
concepts and plan? Measures and Procedures. A
practicing new skills contingency plan is a written
emergency procedures plan which
describes what actions must be taken
to minimize hazards from fires,
explosions or unplanned releases of
hazardous waste or hazardous waste
constituents to air, soil or water. Or in
other words this plan are what if’s
scenarios, or an action designed to
help an organization respond
effectively to a significant future
incident, event or situation that may
or may not happen.

What must a  A description of the emergency

include? personnel in response to fires,
explosions, or any unplanned sudden
or non-sudden release of hazardous
waste or hazardous waste
constituents to the air, soil or water;
 A description of arrangements
agreed to by local police
departments, fire departments,
hospitals, contractors, and state and
local emergency response teams;
 An up-to-date list of names,
addresses and phone numbers
(office and home) of all persons
qualified to act as emergency
coordinator.
 An up-to-date list of all emergency
equipment at the facility, including the
location and physical description of
each item, along with a brief outline
of its capabilities.
 An evacuation plan for facility
personnel.

covid 19?

How does COVID-19 The virus that causes infection with

affect our health? severe acute respiratory syndrome
spreads easily among people.

So, what did we do in We had a total lockdown where

order for us not to get people could not leave the house
infected with Covid-19? until the virus was gone. And we
isolate ourselves from others specially to
those who are infected.

What is isolation? Isolation refers to various measures

taken to prevent contagious diseases
from being spread from a patient to
other patients, health care workers,
and visitors, or from others to a
particular patient.

Very good. So, we have a. Strict isolation is used for diseases

forms of isolation who spread through the air and in some
can read? cases by contact.
b. Contact isolation is used to prevent
the spread of diseases that can be
spread through contact with open
wounds.
c. Respiratory isolation is used for
diseases that are spread through
particles that are exhaled.
d. Blood and body fluids precaution is
used when there is concern about
communicable diseases found in a
patient's body fluid.
e. Reverse isolation is a method to
prevent a patient in a compromised
health situation from being
contaminated by other people or
objects.

What is Decontamination is the reduction or

decontamination? removal of chemical agents.

What area in the house Kitchen, bedroom and comfort room.

do you think we can
decontaminate?

Very good. Many viruses

die pretty quickly when
exposed to sunlight or
artificial UV rays.
Remember that viruses
usually do not like hot
temperatures. This is
one reason flu season is
during the year's cooler
months. Heating your
house to a higher
temperature can help kill
off viruses.
Developing Mastery Role play
Instructions:
Form 3 groups. Each group will act on Evacuation, Isolation, and
decontamination.

As a team, chose a case scenario to role play. You can select different
scenario each time you go through this activity or the same one each
time. You will have ~ 5 minutes to role play. At the end of each round,
your observer will provide some feedback to the play before moving
onto the next round. We will keep track of the time and let you know
when to move into a new role.

Observer Notes:
What did the group do well?
What could they do differently next time?
Any other observations?
